#question from @stjosephhospital We love featuring work from local artists in the hallways off the hospital main lobby/atrium! In fact, you can purchase these beautiful pieces and support the hospital at the same time!

My wife picked this hospital after a thorough research amongst many hospitals in NH & MA for labor and delivery. Have to say her choice was the best. From maternal care prenatal until the delivery day and post partum the services were above and beyond. The entire staff was outstanding and highly supportive of normal delivery. The constant attention and care by nurses and doctors during labor is highly commendable. Their support, encouragement, skills, knowledge all contributed to a very safe normal delivery for my wife especially after our 1st child was delivered through c section. She was highly thankful and appreciative of everything the team did to help her. I would highly recommend the hospital. Need to also mention their food is out of this world. The celebration dinner was amongst the best dinners I've had in some top notch fancy restaurants. Overall this hospital has exceeded my expectations. Thank you for your services St Joseph staff!!!

BILLING NIGHTMARE! If you cannot pay in full right away be prepared for a fight and they will still send your account that is in good standing to collections! I am so grateful that I switched facilities for my Healthcare, I only wish I had done it sooner!

In July of 2022 I set up a payment plan with the billing department of St Joes Hospital. My only request with that payment plan was to recieve monthly statements so that I could track the payments and remaining balance. From August 2022 through January of 2023 there were no issues getting statements.

From Feb 2023 through November 2023 I was unable to recieve statements at no fault of my own. I called several times attempting to have this fixed to no avail. Then I was finally able to get the statements sent again but only for a period of time (Nov 2023-March 2024) again I called trying to figure out why statements were not being sent. In July of 2024 I moved and promptly update my address with St Joes billing department. In August 2024 (but none from April 2024-July 2024) I recieved a statement to my newly updated address. In September 2024 I received another statement to my updated address but it stated my account was past due. I called in October 2024 to ensure my account was not past due. I was told by someone my account was in collections, then I was told by someone else my account was not in collections and that my account was not past due, which was true and I offered to provide the statements of cashed checks from my bank. In Oct 2024 I asked to be called by a supervisor, that never happened. Then again in November 2024 I got yet another past due notice, but I had paid the account so it was not truly past due. I called again asking for assistance. I was assured I would be called by a supervisor and that my account was not past due and was not anywhere near going to collections. October 2024 was the last billing statement sent to me, I had this account set on auto pay through my bank. In January of 2025 I recieved a notice from a collection agency that my account had been assigned to collections and if not resolved it would impact my credit report. While my account was in possession of this agency Amcol Systems, Inc St Joes was still recieving and cashing my checks for monthly payments. I had to turn off the auto pay and then pay the balance to this agency for fear of it being reported despite the fact that is was not past due. All the while I still never got a call back from the billing department supervisor from my requests in both October 2024 and November 2024. I messaged St Joes billing department about this egregious error and asked for a supervisor to call me ASAP since I had never been called when I asked in October 2024 and November 2024. I recieved no reply for a few days and given the inability to get help or a supervisor on the phone in the past, I resolved the account with Amcol. Weeks later I was called by a supervisor Amanda who listened to my concerns but offered no real insight as to what happened or how my account got to collections. Her only answer for the 2 years of issues with the billing department was we switched Systems and your bill is old. Multiple times she made accusatory statements that I had stopped the auto pay through their system as being the source of the billing issues, that change was made in Sept 2024 because of the lack of statements and I wanted to be able to track my payments. However the payments were still on auto pay just through my bank instead of St Joes system. I didn't have the extra money to pay this bill in full and did the appropriate thing and set it up on monthly payments. But instead of that being a smooth process it was not. I battled cancer and never stopped stressing about this bill. The billing department at St Joes is awful. They provide no support, no consistency and tell you whatever they feel like in that moment. I was mislead and lied to by several staff. I truly hope this is not how others are treated but I have no confidence in their billing department or staff to include said...

I’ll never understand why they don’t have a zero stars option. To preface this review Dr. Wong was professional and very easy to work with, as were Tracy and some of the other nursing staff. I wish this was true of the majority of the employees we interacted with.

We brought our 12 yr old in for psych issues on 3pm on a Friday. Since my wife was asked to leave, she came back on Saturday around ten and they had not offered my daughter a toothbrush, hair brush, shower, or anything else in the way of hygiene. It wasn’t until my wife requested it that they brought her basic hygiene items which should be common sense. The social worker did not show up until Sunday, an hour and a half late for her shift, and we were told she was pulled over. I’ve been pulled over plenty of times and it never took an hour and a half. To top it off she was argumentative, rudely spoke over my wife whenever she tried to speak, and when my wife got upset about it she walked out of the room until almost 7 at night. During the times we visited, we watched an LNA watching a movie/tv on a tablet. Often, the LNA who was supposed to be watching her in her room, would walk around, joke loudly about how other employees make their lives miserable for 12 hours a day, and ask each other if they are going to be going out and partying together later. My wife felt uncomfortable with the social workers aggression, so she asked me to come by. When I did, the social worker used passive aggression to keep turning our words around, interrupting us, and generally it seemed she was more concerned about being right and repeating herself than listening. She was sorely lacking in basic social skills. To my discredit at that point I was no longer going to accept When I called her out on her behavior she went and got two nurses as “witnesses”, and they came in more calm, but just as argumentative. One male rn told us that it was our daughters fault that her hygiene was neglected and gave the excuse that they are an emergency department and they aren’t set up to handle basic hygiene. She’s twelve, scared, in an alien environment and the adult nurse said it was her responsibility to ask, then the social worker tried to excuse it away by saying they cannot force her to shower. All in all it was a terrible experience from the beginning added onto an already difficult situation. Also keep in mind this is a private, for-profit hospital. Save yourself any additional pain and heartache and even if it means extra driving, go elsewhere. Any where else would...

Last night just after midnight maybe 1/2 past midnight I ended up going into the ER because I was really wheezy and I couldn’t get in to see a new primary care provider until March 2026. The experience was great until the doctor, whom I don’t know her name, came in. She was of Asian decent, and she spoke to me so rudely and as if I was a 5 year old. And she kept repeating herself like I wasn’t understanding her and finally I told her she didn’t have to speak to me as if I’m dumb or a child. She also did this in front of 2 other staff members which was embarrassing. She also got louder and louder as she was repeating the same information over and over. I told her I was 44 y/o and have a bachelors degree. I understand what she is saying and her speaking to me like this while I’m not feeling well and came in to get some help, not to be patronized. It was extremely patronizing. She then said she wasn’t speaking to me like that and she has her staff to prove otherwise. I told her she was being rude and disrespectful. She then went on to say that I shouldn’t be be rude and disrespectful to a medical provider who has 30 years experience and then decided to point her finger at me, as if I was a child being reprimanded and sent to timeout. I go to St. Joseph’s Hospital because the moral from the staff here are just top tier. I’ve never had a bad experience until last night. And this is what sets St. Joe’s apart from SNHMC. I expect that behavior and demeanor from the staff at SNHMC not St. Joe’s. She then turned and said she was going to discharge me because of my attitude and she didn’t like it. I was in tears until I left there. And the level of care I received resonated because compared to my visit in August for the same symptoms and issues, was extremely different. In August the staff were delightful, they took very good care of me. I had Xrays done just to be sure it wasn’t pneumonia. Last night I was given 1 nebulizar treatment, an inhaler with an Opti chamber, and she sent prednisone to my pharmacy . I was in and out of there in less than hour. And when I asked the nurse about an additional nebulizar treatment I just couldn’t help but feel as though she just wanted to get rid of me. I was in tears for an hour after I left because when you aren’t feeling well, the last thing you want is someone treating you like you’re an idiot. And this will completely make think twice about coming here again. And I’m so disappointed because I really thought so highly of St. Joe’s,...
