The Skin & Body Spa — Attraction in Nashua

We had couples massages done at The Skin & Body Spa. The massages themselves were great.

On the other hand, we had a few negative parts of our experience. We checked in and were told to wait in the shop area - this area is cramped and if you are sensitive to smells, you may have a hard time. My boyfriend and I both began to have headaches from how strong the scent is - very overwhelming.

The receptionist told us the names of the massage therapists - clearly one female name and one male name. They had us assigned to one or the other without asking if this was okay or what our preferences may be. I told the receptionist our preferences and she looked at me as though I had three heads. This was an easy fix and it didn't need to be a big deal. People have trauma or sometimes people are more comfortable with having a male or female putting their hands on them. I don't think they recieved any training on this, which is really concerning. I'm a nurse and this is a very, very common issue for people.

Finally, we had a couples massage and were kind of disappointed that we didn't get to be in the same room together. For our couples massage, we had to say good-bye to each other and be in completely separate rooms.

Overall, we enjoyed our massages and our massage therapists were fantastic, but it is certainly not a place we will go to again, unfortunately. We had a great experience at another place in Windham - they asked us if it was okay that the massage therapists available were two women, the waiting area was lovely, we got to have our couples massage in the same room together, and I think it was at the same price or less.

I want to edit: The owner, Missy, and I had a conversation after posting this review and stressed that some of these staff are newer and not familiar with how things are run, that The Skin & Body Spa is no longer offering couples massages at this time and it was a miscommunication. She wanted to clear things up and will be sure to train their staff on customer preferences regarding male vs. female massage therapists, explained that they sell essential oil-based products, and offered my boyfriend & I complimentary services, which we politely declined but appreciate. My MIL is in NH from the Carolinas and has been in the hospital since only 12 hours after her arrival. After over a month of this only to keep getting bad news that is heartbreaking for all of us especially her, I got the idea to find someone who could come to the hospital even just to give her a manicure. Just SOMETHING to make her smile and feel a little pampered. Being from NY I had no idea who to call, but an internet search led me to The Skin and Body Spa.

Missy, the owner, could not have been any more attentive to what I was trying to do. She could not have been more caring, more responsive, more anything! She put this together for me in no time!! Denise, the nail tech who came to tend to my MIL, seriously is an angel. My MIL is not the easiest person sometimes...She is in the hospital after all. I love her dearly which is why it was important for me to make this happen for her. My point is...Denise could not have been any more patient, kind, gentle (which is HUGE - my poor MIL is so bruised :-( ), knowledgeable, just somebody my husband and I were saying we could see being friends with. I think that is the most my mother-in-law has smiled and laughed and after Denise left, she couldn't stop looking at her nails and thanking me for setting it up. In addition, upon hearing the pain my MIL has with her back Denise suggested we have someone come to give her a massage which we are going to look into and see if it's allowed.

We look forward to having Denise come back out. I think it is imperative to try to keep my MIL's spirits up in light of what is happening. I can't make her better health-wise, but because of Missy and Denise, we can make her heart full and give her some time to not think about things.

I know this is long and I'm sorry, but I truly can't thank these two ladies enough. They both checked in with me a number of times and again, TRULY CARED about my MIL. I HIGHLY recommend this establishment and these two ladies especially.

I have never done anything to my eyelashes but I decided to try something new so I made an appointment for an eyelash lift. I was a little skeptical about whether it would make my stick straight eyelashes look better but the results are absolutely fantastic. More importantly the experience I had was absolutely exceptional. Andrea was very personable, made me feel extremely comfortable, and we had a great conversation through the entire appointment which made it fly by. Anytime I felt the slightest bit of discomfort she took care of it right away and whatever it is she did made the feeling go away almost immediately. She made sure to ask if I was comfortable frequently throughout the appointment which I appreciate very much. I would highly recommend going to the skin and Body Spa for any service as the staff there are all extremely friendly welcoming and make you feel at ease and welcomed. I have had facials and other treatments that other spas but nothing compares to the quality and exceptional staff you get at the skin and Body Spa! Oh and something also important to mention, my eyelashes look absolutely fantastic. I actually feel like they make me look younger and I even look decent without makeup now. It's amazing what a small change can do to enhance your parents. I absolutely love the results and I think I'm already addicted so I will definitely be going back in 6 weeks to have them done again. I don't need to put fake lashes on anymore because the results are actually better than the look of...
