This lake is only ten minutes from where I live so I am a frequent visitor! And I'm a huge fan too. I moved to Tennesse from a rural part of Kentucky, smack dab in the Appalachian mountains, and I've really missed having nature right out my back door. However, this lake does well to really satiate my cravings for a little sunshine and singing birds! The weather has slowly been getting better and better and I love running up there and reading under a tree or just sitting on a rock by the lake and soaking up some sun. I haven't been here for the summer lake time, but I have a feeling I'll be taking a plundge into it when that time does come! I can imagine this being an awesome hang out for the whole family and a great place to brings a picnic blanket and just relax. It has always been so clean, I'm not even sure I have ever seen litter there!...

I love this lake! I've been coming here off and on for 35 years. The history is fascinating, and it's just the beginning. It sits atop what was an old dying town but once the county seat (I think).

If you're in Nashville, take a day and spend it on this lake. The main body is wide open, but the lake has a number of craggy tributaries and islands. Fishing for striper and bass - exceptional. I've seen stripers in the 50 lb range. And the fishing is great below the dam, tooPontoon boat rentals area avail, and a day spent in the sun swimming and hanging out - ideal.

TVA built the lake. When they flooded the valley the lake didn't fill to the level it was supposed to, because nobody noticed the network of caves under the surface that also...

Wow! Just wow!!

Beautiful and peaceful! Can’t ask for more, especially if you’re on your lunch break like I was. I ate some fruits and walked around, so beutiful!!!

Make sure if you walk into the woods that you’re extra careful, there is snakes and other reptiles.

But other than that I enjoyed it a lot! Will definitely continue to come back.

Only issue I found was sometimes there’s not parking, but it’s a normal with everything that’s amazing and beautiful.

Well worth it! I hope you...

Originally the location of the Town of Old Jefferson, J. Percy Priest lake is both a recreational area and historical site for middle Tennessee. Formed by the dam in 1966, Percy Priest has many neat coves, boat docks, fishing locations, and recreational areas spanning over 22 miles. J. Percy Priest Lake is a great place of fun for family and tourists alike. One notable place to visit is Long Hunter State park, as it frequently hosts events for Native Americans and has many deer safely roaming the area.
