The history of this once utopian society is incredible. There are so many cool buildings to wander through and an outdoor church and labyrinth that can't be passed up. This town has a peculiar allure about it. The tour guides are very knowledgeable about the place and answer any questions you may have about it. They have a delectable Yellow Tavern that serves the tastiest food I've had in some time. It had a "Grandma's Cooking" type taste and boy did it satisfy my hunger. I recommend planning on being there for an entire day to see the whole place. There is so much wonder here. I can't wait to go back!

Interesting piece of architecture by Richard Meier. The site really allows you to appreciate the building as an object. It’s a great contrast to the historic village. That’s what, I believe, makes it work. But the building is not one that is maintenance free, or even low maintenance. The whole thing needs to be power washed after they fix the leaks and repair the damaged interior finishes. Still, worth stopping at to see if one is anywhere near the area.

Even though I was the only visitor there the rainy afternoon of 8/13/2020, I was shown the 11-minute video of the history of the town, and received my own personal tour/explanation after the video by the friendly and knowledgeable gentleman working there that day.

This review is specifically about the tour of New Harmony that starts and ends at the Atheneum (which is where you buy tickets). The tour is great! I took the tour on May 22, 2022 with Kaitlyn (sp?). She was extremely knowledgeable and obviously passionate at this small town with a rich history. The tour was on a "tram", which is a golf cart with six seats. It was the perfect way to get around. We learned all about the history of the town and got to go in several of the historic buildings. Kaitlyn was very patient and let us explore and set the pace. Highly recommend if you are ever in the area. Note that you can't buy tickets online and given the size of the tram, it is best to stop in and buy your ticket well...

Unique town and museum, with compelling history and beauty. Unfortunately our tram tour turned sour when our guide humiliated a guest who he felt was talking too much. Yes, she was chatty, but she was amiable and enjoying the sites. It was embarrassing to hear him say "I'm the tour guide, let me do the talking." The woman was so embarrassed she and her husband gracefully asked to end their tour (he said he wasn't feeling well) and we were left feeling bad about the whole situation. The guide could've handled it much more gracefully, as any decent teacher would. Pretty ironic, considering it was a tour of...
