As parents of five, my husband and I don't get out as often anymore as we used to, LoL... however, we LOVE good food, trying new places, frequently returning to the good places, etc. So we were looking for something different to do Saturday night, and a friend/couple had mentioned Red Geranium - so we figure, why not... we also visit New Harmony quite often, as I'm a photographer and my husband loves hiking, etc (so we also visit New Harmonie State Park a lot) anyways, WOW - I am almost at a loss for words to be honest... you are started with dinner rolls and drinks (water on arrival, then we ordered a red wine), then we had fried goat cheese, which imagine a delicious gooey ball of goat cheese, fried - served on a little pond of cranberry sauce, served with bread... then, I had the 6oz bacon wrapped filet, with asparagus and baked potato, and my hubs had the 12oz Ribeye, with broccoli and a baked potato... we also shared a white chocolate creme Brule of some kind... it is hands down, no question, the BEST food, atmosphere, experience, date night over all... we've had in a LONG time (if not ever - as far as locally) it was exceptional!!

My husband and I decided to spend our anniversary weekend in New Harmony, as it seemed like a relative safe haven during the COVID-19 pandemic. We stayed at the New Harmony Inn, so I made dinner and brunch reservations at the Red Geranium. We were so impressed by New Harmony! Everywhere we went, people were taking precautions and being so kind. Our temperatures were taken at check-in, and everyone wore masks until seated. (Restaurant employees stayed in masks all the time.) Tables were properly distanced and spaced. Our server for both meals was Jo Beth, and she was wonderful! The food was delicious, and she had great recommendations for us when we were trying to decide what to eat. Our meals at Red Geranium were one of my favorite parts of our visit to New Harmony; since I was pregnant during my visit, I needed to ensure extra safety during the pandemic. Dining at Red Geranium made me feel somewhat normal for the first time in a long time!

The best restaurant in town (in my opinion) - Red Geranium has a lovely atmosphere both indoors and outdoors. My steak in the steak salad was done to perfection. Avocado dressing? Yes please! Our apps that we ordered were delicious: goat cheese ball and the “sticks” which were like a cross between an egg roll and a panini. Their menu changes with the season, which I always love to see. AND THEY SERVE WARM BREAD ROLLS! Absolute 5 stars in my book! This is a small town though, so the sense of urgency here is non existent. Please elevate your 5 senses and truly enjoy.

Decided at the last minute to get away for the weekend. My wife and 15month old son booked into Harmony Inn. Reservation at Red Geranium was for 19:30, we arrived on time, were seated within 5min, ordered drinks. Our server was polite. We ordered at about 19:50...... 20:45 comes around and we still waiting for our dinner, my wife has been feeding our little guy bread rolls to keep him from losing it. 5min later the manager comes around and says she is sorry for the wait due to a big booking who’s food had just gone out, ours should be done shortly. 1hr15min after ordering, our food comes out!!! It’s after 9pm everyone is leaving and the staff is cleaning up the tables around us, that’s just what we wanted while eating our dinner that we’ve waited so long for, our son at this point isn’t really interested in food because he’s reached his limit and just wants to go to bed.

The lack of communication by the server and manager was to blame, had you communicated that to us we would’ve asked if you could at least try and bring our sons food out, BUT.... The feeling I got, was that the bigger tables get priority over the smaller tables!!! The couple next to us had the same thing happen to them and same song and dance was told to them by the manager!!!

Customer service is the most important part of any business. If you don’t treat all your clients with respect then your reputation will soon pay the price.

You did take our drinks off the bill, 2x summer shandys and 1x soda. I didn’t expect that nor did that make up for your poor service, however I appreciate it, would’ve been better had you just communicated with us instead of ignoring our table due the time it took for our food to come out.

Very disappointing experience, I will certainly not return. Menu is pricey and I have no problem with that, however for me it’s all about service. 14oz Rib eye wasn’t great but also wasn’t bad, for the money spent not worth it in my opinion, the mashed potatoes were cold. The veg that came with it was really good.

All in all it was a very disappointing evening spent in your establishment and I can only hope your GM takes this review seriously and focuses on...

So disappointed in our 2/17/2017 visit. The restaurant is normally a quiet, serene environment but this time people were shouting and generally being very loud in the kitchen. At one point the host ran back into the kitchen and told them to be quiet but about 10 minutes later the noise ramped back up.

I had the prime rib. It was quite tough and not the quality we've come to expect over the years.

My wife had a filet requested medium but received very, very rare to the point of raw. Very obviously cooked way too fast with some charring on the outside. We ended up sending it back TWICE to have it cooked to medium. They kept returning the same filet to us. By this time the reheating reduced the portion size way down and toughened it up. That process of sending and receiving the same filet back and forth twice took roughly 30 minutes total. I didnt want my wife to eat alone so my meal was cold by the time hers was cooked properly. Very unexpected quality of service.

We received one of our two desserts free for the ruined main course for which we were charged full price.

For virtually the entire dinner there was a food tray set up near our table in the center of the dining room with dirty dishes on it. The staff walked around it most of the night.

When we left at 9:30pm on a friday night the entire restaurant was abandoned. No host, no waitstaff, no one. As i walked past the kitchen I couldnt see anyone there either.

We showed ourselves to the door.

This visit really...

Today was, well interesting. There are things that you really need to correct. 1st. Don’t overbook. We had a reservation for 1pm and waited nearly 40 minutes for our seats. 2. Teach your wait staff that it is best to CLEAR dishes before they put the next course out. She almost dropped my food on me. 3rd. Get a BETTER method of communication in your kitchen. For two hours all I could hear is your kitchen director SCREAMING at the staff. It was disastrous. You also need to lubricate that annoying squeaky service door. Also. NEVER sit someone right outside your serving entrance. I believe that the fire marshal would have shut you down today had you been inspected. One of your waitstaff stumbled over one of my guests . Not once, not twice. Three times. 4th. Be mindful of the produce you keep. My guest was served rotten cherry tomatoes and slimy lettuce. Rotten. My food was less than warm. 5th. When dessert comes out, kindly instruct your server to ask if we would like coffee with dessert. It would have gone well with the carrot cake. LASTLY, Please. You advertise yourself as a fine dining establishment. Cramming 3 people on a table edge that will only comfortably fit two is something that I would expect of much lesser restaurants. Your patrons should not have to eat off the corner of the table. I spent close to $400 today for a most unpleasant experience and I quite frankly don’t care to hear any excuses for the deficiencies. I can’t imagine...
