This is the new Langdon Park Beach. It is small and natural. I plan to use it for a healthy shoreline walk.

The park has a good variety of playground equipment, tables, and benches, plus a good view of the lake.

The beach was closed due to the high water levels in the lake.

Langdon is an ideal park. The park hosts a soft top play area for children (and adults if you so fancy), picnic tables for the family to enjoy a snack, and doggy bags for easy cleanup when you decide to bring the doggies along. This is all set to the backdrop of beautiful Lake Michigan.

The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that if you're west of Sheridan, you must cross Sheridan Road to access the park. If there was a stop light, that would be perfectly fine. Instead, there is a "Stop for Pedestrian" on sign on Sheridan, a road where cars frequently drive over 40 miles an hour and blow past the crosswalk sign. I don't fault the cars since it seems almost impossible to stop on a dime for passing pedestrians at that speed. Therefore, there's a bit of danger in crossing the road, especially if you have a rambunctious little one that's prone to pulling away from mommy or daddy.

Dangerous crosswalk aside, I would highly, highly recommend a visit to this little...

Small strip of beach, more like a small buffer zone between the bluff and the water. On days with higher surf/waves I'm guessing there's virtually no where to walk. Lots of motor boat and jet ski noise given the proximity to the yacht harbor. Dealt with biting flies for the first couple hours. On a 95 degree summer day the water started in the 60s but warmed up throughout the day and was comfortable by 2:30pm. There's parking very nearby and a grocery store within walking distance if you need snacks.

We initially walked south to a stretch of sand that was quieter, but a local property owner approached us and informed us it was private property.

Use of the beach requires a day use fee, analogous to going to the local public pool where you have to cover the cost of life guard supervision. They prohibit inflatables...

This quiet, shaded Park is a lovely place to visit. With a view of the lake, you can sit on available benches or play at the children's playground. There is a little space to play games.they keep up with the landscaping, everything is trimmed well and there are several blooming plants. It is a charming Park to be at! There is no lake access, you would have to go over a fence and down a steep hill...
