Literally isn't even laurelton. This is cambria heigts. It's true how reviewers said that sometimes some inspectors have requested turns at the last minute, or that they imagine/anticipate you've went through a stop sign even if u didn't...it's like being guilty until proven innocent and them taking for granted that they know the area better than you do. When it's snowing, some do make silly comments. I'm obviously not saying I was 1000% perfect and never made any legitimate mistake either but how can you park as close as you normally should to the curb if the ground's been snowed out several inches from the curb?
The goals should be to safely obey traffic laws but instead it sometimes becomes u trying to figure out how to please a tyrant in ur passenger seat and it's wild to know that, at all times, u just have a 50/50 shot no matter what u do due to it being at their discretion. If possessing a license were truly about driving skills, there wouldn't be as many accidents on a daily basis. People are out there being reckless because some of these examiners surely overlook things for who they want just like they buckle down on others for no reason besides not personally liking/understanding something about them.
Someone who was adamantly trying to fail me wanted to tell me as a consolation, "you dont have to drive; driving is a luxury." People love saying that it's only a convenience and not a necessity but eastern queens hardly has ever had any convenient mass transportation. We have poor MTA access. I wouldn't spend my time and money to be there if I didn't need a license; yet, you tell me I don't need it...Huh? Clearly, they sometimes look upon people prejudicially. It's bad to give those kinds of people positions of power because you should not have to know what someone is going through to simply be decent towards them.
Updated edit: This is a very old review; I've been licensed nearly a decade. My nieces took their tests here and made it through just fine. The place was just as disorganized but mostly everybody had good attitudes and came to actually do their job. Pray for a good inspector. Pray for good weather on the test date. Pray period and stay safe on these...
Read moreI went to the laurelton Test site in Laurelton NY on August 3rd was by far the worst road test experience of my life ! I arrived two hours early since it was a foreign area so me and my grandma wanted to give myself time to find where I should meet my road test instructor. There were no clear indications of where the road test site was or it’s workers. No one was seen standing outside or even putting any effort to allow people to know where the place is in general since it was in front of a BUSY park. The directions also given by the dmv road test confirmation email lead us to an intersection in which we knew we could not stay so we proceeded to look around even get out the car to ask random strangers. By the time my other passenger in the car was able to track down some workers they were both sitting in a parked car BLOCKS AWAY from my original test [link removed] then it was 7:00 pm which my time schedules time was .When we proceeded to ask them how we were supposed to know exactly where they were they gave a sorry excuse of “we’ve been here for two hours” which they WERE NOT as my grandma had been driving around looking for the place for the last hour and a half. I was not able to take my road test which I was trying to take right before I go off to college . Now because of this , I will not be able to try to get my license until our next break which is all the way in November . Just a piece of advice , don’t waste time or energy ,as they make it worse and I personally will never attend there again ! The workers were rude , inconsiderate , and flat out disrespectful. It was one worker man with blue , eyes and his other worker who I couldn’t see because that’s who my grandmother was...
Read moreReview is written after passing my road test at this Site a few days ago. If you're taking the test at this site, the main thing to keep in mind is the bicycle lane when pulling-out to begin your test -- make sure to do all of your checks (signal, check mirrors and look over your left shoulder a few times, so the examiner can see), especially if you did not practice on streets with bike-lanes (which was the case for me). Depending on the time of your test, the roads may be busier, so keep that in mind, too.
Parallel parking and the 3-point turn was quiet easy because of the space you're given, so do not stress too much about that.
Another important tip is when finishing, you'll be turning onto a main left-lane, and then the examiner will request you to pull over to where you started on right, and you'll the do same checks: (signal, check mirrors and look over your right shoulder a few times, so the examiner can see) before pulling-over.
Overall, this site isn't too bad -- smooth roads, wide lanes, and minimum traffic.
P.S. I do have to add, I was fortunate enough to have a very pleasant examiner, who eased any nerves from the start. Some of you may not have the same luck, so don't allow that...
