If I can rate “no stars” I would. This has to be the worst GameStop in all of Queens, maybe all of New York. It’s labeled a “prestige” GameStop but there’s absolutely nothing prestige about it. For starters, I’ve been coming to this GameStop for over 10 years and it’s never been as bad as it has been for the last 4-5 years. I only come here because they closed the lefferts on liberty location (THAT store had great customer service) the customer service in this GameStop is absolutely terrible. Every employee has little to no energy. They make it seem like they have better things to do instead of help you. None of them act like they want to be there. I get attitude when I challenge something they tell me and and I know I’m correct but they will still try a way to prove you wrong. They NEVER and I mean NEVER answer the phone. So for something that can take 10 seconds for me to ask them over the phone, it’s takes even longer because I have to go down there because no one EVER picks up and if by some miracle of god they actually DO answer the phone, they don’t greet you, they sound tired, no energy and don’t even hang up the phone in a polite way. The manager Matias is all of the above. I would think as a manager, you would have a little more customer service and try and do whatever it takes to meet the customers needs but nope! He’s just like all of the other employees with all of the attitude. I would totally skip this GameStop if I were you. Go to another and save yourself the annoyance of coming to this one. I hope the GameStop execs or someone higher up reads this and all the other 1 star reviews and decides to do something about all the employees and the managers that work...
Read moreI previously went to a Gamestop on 163-80 Jamaica Ave, Jamaica, NY 11432 and I had to return some items due to my nephew and niece having the items I've bought for them already. I also was interested in trading in some retro games from the N64, and see if I can buy a Video game for my newly acquired Nintendo Switch. When I informed the Game Adviser at the counter of what I wanted to do, he simply stated we can't take returns for accessories and we don't take Used games that are for the N64, and suggested I should sell them on "Craig's list" instead. I just couldn't believe this. I thought to myself if this Rep would have tried to help me out a little, I would have pre-ordered some games along with buying a game for my new Switch. So instead I went to try my luck with the Gamestop near my job, and BOOM! I simply explained to Jon why I was here, and gave me NO ISSUE WHATSOEVER with what I wanted to do today. He gave me a refund on the items the other Gamestop didn't want to take back, and I was able to trade all 8 of my N64 games with ease. Because of this, I Pre-ordered 3 games with him, AND brought a game for my Switch as well. Also, the other game advisers saw my retro games and we all got into a conversation about them as well. I love how diverse and helpful this Gamestop is and I will make sure I will do all my gaming purchases here, no matter what. Your whole staff here is a strong asset to your company, and they should serve as a model on how every Gamestop store...
Read moreEDIT 05/20/24: Came here this past Friday to buy 2 Nintendo Switch games and left with exactly what I needed. The girl at the register was nice.
Spent 10 minutes here looking for games and a PS5 controller. I finally settled on a controller I liked, took the cardboard redemption thing to the counter, just to be told that it was sold out and they only have the ones behind the cashier counter. What's the point of the individual cardboard cutouts for the customers then? They could have just removed the ones that were sold out? There was NOBODY there besides me. I feel like things like this are just stupid and easily be fixed by employees.
Anyways, I wouldn't have left a review if it was just for that, but then after being rung up, I was told that the contactless payment wasn't working on either of their payment terminals. I ended up just having to walk out since I came with the intention of using a debit gift card I had electronically on my phone. They were also sold out of the PS5 disc drives which I would've paid for with a credit card or even cash if I had to, but no luck. Had to purchase it online and got it delivered in 2 days...
