Saints Joachim & Anne Nursing & Rehabilitation Center — Attraction in New York

They abuse, neglect, and steal from the patients (valuables, money, and food), I have overheard patients screaming in the hallway about their items being stolen. I have spoken to a patient she was complaining to me that she was put on psych meds without being see by a Psychiatrist. She also tole me that the psychiatrist doesn't come enough to check on her. A resident that is deaf head was split open by a CNA and they sent her to the psych ward to cover it up. I have witnessed a patient ringing the bell and having to wait 1,2,3, or more hrs for a CNA or nurse to respond. I was told by a patient that St. Joachim uses recycled donated used old rags on the patients face, body, and even to clean bodily fluids, wash them and use them on the other patients. I have seen these rags and boy, they really should've been thrown away, bc they're in very bad condition. I have witnessed the food, just terrible. I have witnessed pills left unattended in the room for the patient as that happened while I was visiting someone. I have overheard a nurse telling a patient that they didn't have something, bc it was for everybody, although it was being paid for by that patients insurance. I wouldn't advise anyone to go there or send anyone that they care about there.I almost forgot one thing. I also witnessed a Russian lady or maybe she was Ukrainian or maybe something else (tall with kind of blondish short/medium hair) physical therapist being aggressive and yelling at a little old lady. It was sad to see. This is where people go to live their last years, be taken care, or get better. They should not be mistreated. I feel that its a real abuse of power and circumstances going on in there. I'm honestly surprised/shocked by the good rating. I honestly hope this review...

(If I could rate this place no stars I would) Do not send your loved one here! Some of the CNAs hate their job and it’s noticeable based off how they treat your family. They have placed the call bell in places my grandfather can’t reach which is a big concern especially if there is an emergency. I have made numerous complaints about issues that have been on going and no one has taken my complaints seriously.

My grandfather health is regressing and they don’t even notice because the CNAs hardly check on him and nurses always seem to be busy. They don’t have enough staff it seems because when you request for things it seems to be a big hassle for them.

I have made a complaint many times about a patient smoking in the bathroom and nothing is being done. There is oxygen in the building and no ventilation so having someone being able to smoke in bathrooms are an extreme risk for the facility and it’s patients. I’m not going to wait till something seriously happens to my grandfather for them to do something.

No one follows up on any complaints you make. Everyone in the facility just points fingers and never takes accountability or make any changes.

I have been forced to now come here and write my concerns because nothing has been done. No one speaks up about the issues about this facility but I urge you to visit and talk with patients and their families about the care they are receiving. I wish I did that because I would have never had my grandfather who is a stroke...

I was admitted to Saints Joachim and Anne on March 27, 2025 and was discharged on May 26, 2025 just shy of 2 months. As a result of being hit by a car, I entered unable to walk and left confidently walking with walker/cane thanks to the superb rehabilitation department. Specifically, my upper body work with Therapist Wendy and lower body/leg work with Richard. Additionally, the bright and modern rehab center with its uptodate equipment and friendly/professional staff all earn high marks. The Nursing staff - RNs, LPNs and CNAs on my floor (3rd) were always attentive, helpful and absolutely committed to my healing journey. My interactions with administrators - especially Jason and Sonia were fruitful - and a very special Thank You to Steven. Other areas including dietary and housekeeping lived up to high standards. A special « shout out » to the creative and dedicated Recreation Staff. I would unequivocally recommend ssjoachim to anyone needing short or long term nursing care or rehabilitation.
