Visiting for the first time during my brief stay here in CA. Though it was not a sunny day, I came here with lot of enthusiasm and expectations as a Wildlife Photographer. Regular joggers and walkers, both from the Teens and seniors were seen enjoying their daily drills. Though there was a Notice Board prohibiting visitors against feeding the Birds, one can see the people from the neighborhood giving them the feed. ( As an ardent birder, I'm against this practice.). The lake is kept neat and clean, though surrounded by residential apartments and Colony. I have enjoyed the activities of Geese, Ducks and Gulls. Quite a lot of Photographs I cd click. Had there been sun above, it wd have been a Bonus. Nevertheless the good ones are posted here. No doubt a Birders' paradise! Demands...

I've been coming to this park since I learned how to walk. Years ago, we used to grab bags of stale bread and feed the ducks. Nowadays, it is discouraged as you don't want our feathered friends to become dependent on human handouts.

This manmade lake in the 'burbs encircles an "island" with houses, but the best part are the waterfowl! I noticed that various populations tend to take over depending on the time of year. Ducks, seagulls, geese, pelicans, coots, shags, etc. Right now it's the coots! Those crazy black birds with the white beaks and the red eyes. Their feet are pretty trippy too -- rubbery yellowish black webby things.

Great spot for a run or walk, if you have a toddler just watch out for those crazy groups of geese that like to chase you! Sometimes they can be bigger...

Lake is murky and algae filled so anything caught here is not for consumption. It's unfortunate because several decades ago, it was clean and well maintained according to the locals that grew up fishing this lake. Recently, the City of Newark has enabled regular aeration to circulate water and improve the quality reintroducing oxygen back into the water. They have instituted weed abatement thus improving the overall condition. Department of Fish and Wildlife has approved fish stocking allowing the city to run Fishing in the City events again. Now just like old times, people can now enjoy a thriving ecosystem. I do hope someday portable restrooms become available for public use and not just for...

I've always loved this park! The greenery, the trail, the geese that sometimes look aggressive but leave you alone if you leave them alone, the older men who bring out their miniature boats over the weekends (pre-Covid days) and walking around and chasing my nephews and niece. I've come here on and off over the past 11-12 years. The only minus is a lot of bird droppings at certain times so you need to watch your steps, but it's a great, scenic little park. I bought lunch nearby today and decided to sit on one of the benches to eat it.

I have been going to this Lake since I was a teenager. It is absolutely gorgeous in you have the opportunity to see a bunch of geese! There are usually quite a bit of people taking walks by themselves or walking with their dogs. It's not the kind of place I would want to go walking by myself after dark but then again that I don't know where is, lol. Also it's a totally manageable lap around the lake...maybe 15 minutes if you walk at an average pace. Oh and you get to admire all the rich folks homes in the middle on the island. 🤣

Wonderful birds in this park: multicolored mallard ducks, canada geese, domestic geese, muscovy ducks, seagulls, a whole nesting colony of great egrets, snowy egrets (if you're lucky), and a few coots. All of them expect food, and will look at you and follow you with the assumption that you have food. This makes them very tame. Bring food if you want to start a feeding frenzy. The domestic geese have claimed one segment of the park as their own, while one of the islands has been colonized by several dozen great egrets.
