Pueblo Meat Super Market - Newark NJ — Attraction in Newark

A friend recommended this supermarket to me since she said there were a great variety of Spanish products and if I did spend certain amount they would provide free transportation of my groceries. I always shop at Aldi and Shop Rite and I am satisfied with them but I wanted to get that new experience and find some good avocados among other vegetables that I do not easily find in other supermarkets. So my friend and I went there this morning. They have great variety of Spanish products, fresh produce and decent meat selection. Most of the products are overpriced but you do not mind if you really want them.

However, what will stop me from stepping in that place again was the treatment that I received from one employee, that later I was told is one of the owners. I spent more than enough to qualify for free transportation and when he heard me asking for it he promptly jumped to say they did not offer transportation to my area even when it is in Newark and they had bring groceries to my neighbor several times. He was very rude on saying so and asked me what made me think that they would offer me transportation and when I told him my neighbor told me so he continued with his rant saying that my neighbor was nobody to assure me they would do that. The driver tried to pacify the situation saying he would deliver our groceries but by then i did not want to hear anything else and I called a cab. It was frustrating, annoying and embarrassing. I have never been in a situation like that and even less when it was one of the owners involved. I do not want to hear anything about that place again. I will continue shopping in places that I know have professional treatment for their customers and excellent...

It has parkinglot...is not fancy or extremelly expensive place...it has basically fresh caribean, central and some south american groceries and fuits. Love the mexican tortillas from there, the cheese the chololate, the sugar cane panela, beans, avena and sweets from many countries. There is also swit platains and nice avocados.. In the back during the day is a kitchen open with hot food and soups very traditional and clean. I am being going for certain basics for more than 10 years....and the tuna from ecuador....very delicious! Is good for what it is....if is not there...am not sure how far i will have to go...very happy that is...

New to the area, the store is right around the corner from me. Because of New Jersey's dumb bag laws, I bring a backpack with me when I shop to carry my purchases home. No problem on my first visit to the store, but on my second visit I am stopped and asked to remove my backpack and they will keep it in the office until I leave. As a law abiding citizen who has never stolen anything in my life, I find this very creepy and offensive. I will shop elsewhere for...
