We came over Memorial Day Weekend 2017

Pros The camp site was close to the river dock.

Cons The Oasis group site was nothing like an oasis! We had to hike all of our stuff in. There were box elder bugs EVERYWHERE!! We came back at lunch time to make sandwiches and they had found their way into tents (hundreds of them) they would fly in our hair, clothes, face, glasses lenses. We couldn't get away from them. They were swarming everywhere! They laid eggs on clothing, our food and who knows what else. Inside the tent they got on our clothes, sleeping bags and pillows. There was some absurdly long grass that had just recently been cut and there was hay type stuff everywhere in our campsite. It got on our clothes, hair, feet which then brought it back into the tents. Anyone who had allergies needed to take something 24/7 religiously to get relief. There were no dumpsters or showers in the group sites and the only bathroom was next to the day use area and was an outhouse. We had to drive to the individual camping area to find flushing toilets, soap and showers. A woman came the the day use area around sunset on one of our 3 nights there to get high and then started yelling at our camp site because no one is helping her. The guys in our group were up dealing with her and police for hours and didn't get back to the camp site until after 1am. There was no ranger or anyone from Champoeg there. The only great thing about this group site was the company and nice weather and I can go somewhere else for all of that. I would not recommend Champoeg's group sites! I can't say anything for the individual sites because I haven't been there but I most likely won't try it after the experience I had with the...

The cabins were cute and i thought the camp hosts were kind and respectful, unfortunately we had a cabin neighbour come by and harass us and try to sit with us by our fire after making threats at us. We then went to the camp hosts to get help in a situation where we were genuinely scared and not comfortable sleeping the night with someone who threatened us next door, and the camp hosts started defending the man and asking us to “ignore him” when we were minding our own business in the first place. i’d also like to mention this man was drunk and when we wouldn’t let him hangout with us he started walking in the street saying “help they’re hurting me” when we were genuinely just sitting by our fire. we had to pack up our stuff in the middle of the night and go home early, our trip was cut short and so far i don’t think i’ll be receiving a refund for the night we didn’t stay. it was very unfortunate since it was supposed to be a little fun get away to nature kind of trip and it was going well until this happened, and i was pretty disappointed with the staffs reaction to us literally being harassed and scared enough to leave. the man was a war vet and they used this as an excuse but he was clearly drunk and two of us were young girls i don’t think ill ever feel comfortable staying here if this is the kind of behavior they allow. And i advise others not to stay here either if safety is not...

Nice park. We had a site in A loop, and a tent only site in the B loop. Clean restrooms and showers. Loop A has a nice grassy area in the middle for playing in if you have kids. There is a big field for pets to be off leash for playing between the 2 loops. Loop B has a little bit more spacing between sites then A, but loop A is still nice. Tents sights are nice and open. Shared water between the tent sites, but not that big of a deal. Camp host are amazing! Super Friendly whenever you had a question. Didn’t bug you at all, just smiling and wave with a good morning or how are you doing. Playground sits between the 2 loops, the bike and hiking trails are along the back side to look at the water and take some nice pictures. There is a fishing dock, and a really nice size disc golfing course at the entrance in the day use area. Unfortunately there is NO swimming area. We did see boats going by, so maybe a boat dock/swimming area close? Not to sure though. Oh and the guy working at the ice cream place down the road or down the bike trial (however you want to get there)is super friendly and gladly answered...

This state park includes many actives: Frisbee golf course, fishing, hiking, boat dock and picnic areas. There are two camping sections within this park. One section is heavily wooded, and the other section in an open field. We found the section in the open field of the park to be our favorite with better views and most sites included sewer hookups. As you enter the park, a gift shop and museum are at the entrance. Our site was level. Only a few sites within the wooded area were able to a DirecTV satellite signal. Our Verizon phones got a weak 3G signal. Our family is currently traveling this beautiful country via RV style, and have been RV'ing for many years. Therefore, we have an idea between high-standard qualities and poor quality. We utilize Trip Advisor to assist us on locating top attractions, tasty restaurants and exciting locations within our wonderful country. Follow our adventure via Facebook; “Happy Campers 227”.

Love this place. Great camping, walking, bike riding, birding, and a playground for the kids near the campground. We come here often as we live nearby, but we love to camp here in our trailer too. They have educational displays in a few are about the history of the place and early pioneer life. The VC is nice with cute gift items for sale too. They also have several group picnic sites that must be reserved. Perfect for retirement parties or any other occasion.

Fun spot for camping. Even though the park is open year round, they close a lot in the winter and only RV sites, yurts and cabins are available for winter camping. Summertime there’s more tent sites and some group tent sites as well. The group tent sites are closer to the river. There is a dock but many signs saying no swimming. The camp hosts are always super nice and helpful and fun to chat with. The rangers are great as well. 💜
