Oak Grove, Champoeg State Park — Attraction in Newberg

Oak Grove is home to a fairly popular disc golf course. If you are walking or biking in the area, it's important that you understand some things about our sport for your own safety. We're happy to share the entirety of the park and we will never intentionally throw our discs at you. However, we don't always throw with 100% accuracy, and shanked drives can travel a surprising distance from where they were intended to be thrown. Nearly every path in this section of the park is in an area where a disc could land. If you hear someone yelling "FORE," or "Heads Up!" this means that a disc is heading your way and you should take action to avoid being struck by it. Please keep in mind that unlike walking, the sport of disc golf is limited to areas built specifically for this use. This is the disc golf course that I call home. I have been playing this course for about 7 years and man, how's it has changed. When I started played at Champoeg there was 12 holes and 12 rubber mats. The baskets were Innova, and caught fine. Well, that has all changed. The Friends of Champoeg group on Facebook and made this course into a 18 hole beauty. The course makes it way through a meandering oak grove, that unfortunately is very old and losing trees often.
