As a destination wedding photographer and videographer, I've had the privilege of capturing love stories in some of the world's most iconic venues. However, my recent experience at Rosecliff Mansion in Newport left me in awe, and I am excited to share why this historic estate is the perfect choice for couples seeking a wedding venue that exudes elegance, charm, and timeless romance.

Nestled along the picturesque coastline of Newport, Rhode Island, Rosecliff Mansion stands as a testament to Gilded Age opulence and grandeur. From the moment you arrive, you are transported back in time to an era of lavish parties and refined sophistication. The mansion's stunning architecture, inspired by the Palace of Versailles, provides a breathtaking backdrop for a wedding celebration that is as timeless as it is romantic.

One of the standout features of Rosecliff Mansion is its unparalleled views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Newport Cliff Walk. The expansive grounds, meticulously manicured gardens, and sweeping ocean vistas create a picturesque setting that is unmatched in its beauty and splendor. Whether exchanging vows beneath a canopy of ancient trees or dancing under the stars on the mansion's terrace, every moment at Rosecliff is imbued with a sense of enchantment and romance.

Beyond its stunning views, Rosecliff Mansion is steeped in history and intrigue, adding an extra layer of fascination to any wedding celebration. Built in 1902 as a summer cottage for a prominent New York City family, the mansion has played host to countless lavish parties and gatherings over the years, including several notable weddings and social events. It's easy to see this place was built to entertain!

In addition to its beauty and history, Rosecliff Mansion offers unparalleled versatility as a wedding venue. Whether you're planning an intimate gathering or a grand affair, the mansion's elegant spaces can be tailored to suit your vision, ensuring a wedding experience that is uniquely yours. This review is not on the mansion, it is about getting into the mansion. My husband and I needed to get a ticket to enter so got in line. There was a group of five ahead of us (from out of town), trying to figure out the most economical way to pay for a ticket. The cashier was very patient and worked with them through the myriad of options - which are many. The group talking amongst themselves and all the explaining took about 15 mins. They decided to buy a couple of memberships. Meanwhile, the entry line is growing longer and longer. Ok, now the cashier has to sign them up for two memberships (name, address, etc) and process the payments. We are now at a 20 minute wait to get in - it is 1:30, the house closes at 3:00. We asked the gentleman who was scanning entry if we could pay upon leaving, he said yes (line is now at the door). When we were leaving the line to get a ticket was even longer. He told us it was a busy day and he apologized, told us to forget about buying our tickets. Don’t get me wrong the staff was very nice and doing the best they could. My suggestion to the preservation society: have another person present who can talk to large parties about the most economical way to buy a ticket (which will of course be a membership) and have that person also process the membership. To wait in line, at that point, 20 minutes to buy two tickets and we weren’t even near the end of that wait…is not what you want guests to do. Please Preservation Society improve this system. It...

The Rosecliff is an absolutely majestic and beautifully designed mansion in Newport Rhode Island. During our honeymoon, which took place in the fall of 2018, I brought and treated myself and my wife for a visit and self guided tour of the Rosecliff. During our visit, we learned that the Rosecliff was built from 1898-1902, designed by the distinguished architect, Stanford White of the architectural firm, Mckim, Mead & White and it served as a major residence to Theresa Fair Oelrichs, an American socialite, daughter of James Graham Fair, a multimillionaire silver miner, and spouse to Hermann Oelrichs, a successful shipping magnate. Today, the Rosecliff serves as a historic house museum, listed on the National Register Of Historic Places and has been designated as a US National Historic Landmark District Contributing Property. What my wife and I loved about the Rosecliff was its distinct exterior facade, especially its white architectural terracotta tiles, as well as the mansion’s numerous furnishings and well-crafted large size fireplaces. Our favorite part of the Rosecliff is its magnificent ballroom. We learned that the ballroom was by Theresa Fair Oelrichs to host many lavish balls and celebrations. The ballroom has also been prominently featured in many films ranging from “The Great Gatsby” “True Lies” “Amistad” and the “High Society.” When vacationing in Newport Rhode Island, both my wife and I highly recommend that everyone stop by and visit this outstanding historic attraction!!!
