Norfolk Arts Center — Attraction in Norfolk

I love this place! They usually have an open mic once a month of the first Friday of every month appropriately called "First Fridays." The crowd at this event is very receptive and nice.

They serve some beer and soda. Typically there are some snacks that the community brings in.

Art is supposed to make people think and feel. Removing art because someone has a negative feeling about it is unacceptable. Refusing to display works of art that may be controversial or make people uncomfortable denies people the opportunity for thoughts and feelings and ultimately growth. In 2023 the Arts Center hosted the Norfolk Annual Pride Fest, now in 2025 they are censoring queer art. Very disappointing. I will no longer support them as long as their stance...

14th Annual Juried Art Show. Thank-you for selecting my piece to exhibit. Nice quality of work. Large gallery area, definitely room for more pieces. Surprised the space didn't have more artwork. Wish there would have been name tags to identify the artist & to meet each other at the artist reception. No gallery price list to pick up as you looked at the whole exhibit, which would have been helpful to compare prices...
