I take my son to the skate here every so often and we give a 4 stars in the aspect this park has been therapeutic for my 8 year old adhd and development (boredom, speech, self awareness, impressions etc.) being around them ghetto older kids helps him grow up from a whining baby into "I don't cry no more mama" pre teen. He definitely feels like he's at home skating with the skaters and has def met his match being around older hyper kids.

This one time after we left his speech out of no where got so clear, he could pronounce his words better. I could hear every syllable! He using big words from meeting older kids and talking with them and them showing him skate tricks. He said one time during his story about meeting other skaters "I told this boy to do a wheelie for me and I said "thanks bro appreciate bro!" I was so weak! So bringing around that crowd does indeed help him grow up.

But in another aspect I prioritize how many times I take him there b/c being around those same older kids can get real ghetto real quick and mean lol. That can also turn him into a show off thinking doing silly stuff they not even doing is cool and it's not. Or he come back cussing cause hear the kids older than him saying SH&$ & FU€*!! Lol. Don't want my son thinking he gotta please everyone then he end up hanging with wrong crowd. He's a good kid though & he knows right from wrong. All in all, it's a nice ghetto fabulous park for your kid with behavior or adhd problems to go too so they can be around kids bigger than them....

One of the biggest parks around, it serves a huge portion of the Norfolk community. Pros: nicely equipped with playgrounds, basketball courts and tennis courts. There is a nice skate park too. It's has a lot of shade which makes it very nice in the summer. Cons: Because the park serves a big part of the middle-lowet class community it could use extra free perks for those who can't afford much. It would be very welcome if a splash pad was installed for the summer days and the BMX tracks could be restored to get something more for the teens.

I only live five minutes away, which is good because my two-year-old son demands to come here every day. It has three different play areas, along with two rows of swings. He always finds something to play with when we are here. Everyone we've run into is friendly, and the park seems safe and well-maintained. There are one or two homeless people who may sleep at the bus station, but they are no bother. Plenty of fat squirrels live here, too. It is a fairly quiet park, and there is a lot of space to play. Very cool!

So far 9 wonderful experiences and one bad. Not a place to leave your kids unattended. No judgements here just telling it like I see it. Facilities are good, skate park is top notch (I left blood there thinking I was 20 again but it was worth it). That said, I would not leave my kids unattended in the skate park given the difference in parenting styles of the kids that are most frequently there.
