A wonderful place! We just moved to the area, and found this post by my husband and I having an interest in playing softball. They have a great softball team! So much fun! They always need girls that will play for the team.
It seems like they have so many activities and much community involvement. They even have a dungeons and dragons league! I’m excited to discover what other opportunities they have available!
Roger Kelly is the commander and chief at the post, and he recruited us. Such a nice and laid back guy! I can tell he really cares about people and the post, wants people to be happy and safe. What a great leader for the post!
My husband and I swear in this Tuesday, tomorrow. Then we will be official members. We already turned in our information on a card, showed our military I.D. Or DD214 and paid our dues.
Love what the post stands for. It is for veterans and their families. They love this country and tend to have somewhat conservative views which I can agree with. They believe we are all blessed to be in this country, and that illegal immigration needs to stop.
I’ve had nothing but outstanding experiences at this post and will be a member until we die! It’s only $40 for a year. Kids are allowed in but not after 8 however be warned there is people that smoke and vape inside if that’s an issue. My daughter has enjoyed coming. The food here is really good and all the people are so positive and such nice wonderful people.
Please keep in mind I’m a newbie, so this is the most I know at this point. I’m sure there is much more I’m unaware about with this remarkable post.
I also know my mother and father in law used to come here too and really loved it as well: the same post! They were apart of their bowling team back prior to the year 2000. My mother in law only stopped coming because her husband passed away. They really enjoyed coming together and she doesn’t want to go...
Read moreI'm a severely disabled veteran and a lifetime member of the American Legion and several other veteran organizations. This location offers veterans assistance for filing claims with the Veterans Administration (VA). Like other service organizations for veterans they have knowledgeable and experienced VA certified service officers available to assist. I went to this location because we moved across town and they are close to our home. I researched this branch prior to calling about available appointment times. They have an open door first come first served hours. Thus I suggest to arrive early to reduce your wait time. Be sure to bring official identification, DD214 and any prior correspondence and/or previous award letters from VA if available. If you have a purple heart or other combat award be sure to have documentation if not on your DD214. You will not be turned away if you no longer have everything necessary it will just take longer for your claim to be processed. All the service officers at this location are volunteers and feel an obligation to help veterans obtain the services and financial resources they are...
Read moreSeveral weeks ago I contacted American legion post 327 regarding having an Honor Guard assemble at my Late father's burial site. I informed a staff member that my father had proudly served in the United States Navy and Military Sealift Command (MSC) . I was put in contact with Otha Newton who called me shortly after contacting American Legion.
Otha Newton stated that he would gladly provide an Honor Guard during my father's burial service. The burial took place at the Forest lawn cemetery on Granby Street in Norfolk Virginia on Wednesday July 10th 2024. Otha arrived with his Honor Guard detail shortly before the service began. They all looked sharp in their uniforms. As soon as the service has been concluded, the Honor Guard fired off a 21 gun salute filled by the playing of taps.
My family and others who showed to pay their respects to my father really appreciated what the Honor Guard provided.
Thanks to you Otha and your Honor Guard...
