Over priced for what you get and does not look clean. The food is ok. My wife and I ate once and no future plans to eat there again. I had an incident that may tie back to this restaurant and its owner.
My wife and I catered a company function. I stopped to pick up the food at the Mom and Pop’s for my wife's company function on Oct 21, 2014. I was met by a short senor "Greek" man who told me to come to the side of the building. I thought this was odd. I tried to drive by the side of the building, but the alley there was already blocked by a vehicle. I got out of my car and I was approached by this "Greek" man. He was bringing out the hot food in tin foil trays that was way to flimsy to have held food without a metal tray for support. This restaurant did not even supply carryout bags for the food. This "Greek" man put all of our food on the dirty ground. The wind was blowing, insects and who knows what else was in the air or ground. The plastic lids were flimsy and did not stay on. I address the man and asked him why he did not put this food in my car. He said " I am too busy and don't have the time. I was in shock. The food was extremely hot and I did not have pot holders to hold the flimsy metal trays. I found some gym cloths in my car and I got the food loaded in to the car. I had previously went into the restaurant 2 times before was given the name of the owner Barbara. I was made to feel by the waitress like I had done something wrong and now the focus was on my attitude. Who would not be upset? My food was placed on the dirty ground. Does this restaurant and owners not train their people in customer service and keeping the consumers food in sterile environment? I would never eat there again for the way I was treated and how our food was done. I took photos of what happened and sent them to the food inspectors of Norfolk for review. I did have the opportunity to talk to the owner of the restaurant, Barbara on 10/27/2014 at 12:28pm. Barbara is claiming that her experience help said that I refused to allow her people to load my vehicle with the hot food. This is soo incredible and unbelievable that this is way they want do business!!!! I understand they may also own The Little creek diner off of 7941 Halprin Dr, Norfolk, VA 23518, Ships Cabin 4110 E Ocean View Ave Norfolk, VA 23518 and the Bel Aire 1613 E Little Creek Rd, Norfolk, VA 23518. If these and other businesses do belong to Barbara, I can only hope they will learn from what happened at the Mom and Pop’s location. Please do not blame your former customers for you failure to properly run your business. The responsibility for this is yours...
Read moreCompletely appalled. Plastic dishes, first of all. Really? Plastic plates, side dish bowls, everything.
We had the crab cake meal- the waitress said it was lump crab meat. Dead giveaway that it wasn't- it was completely shredded and had the dark striations of claw meat and at best- claw meat. Also- was told it had hardly any filler.... aaaand wrong again- green peppers and breading all through them. And they were breaded thick and fried. Cole slaw was swimming in mayo- it was crunchy- but the salt content alone was enough to stroke out on.
French toast, eggs and hash browns. Eggs were mutilated. Hash browns were full of oil and cold. There were only 2 other tables in there and they were both eating.... so can't blame the terrible kitchen timing mistake on that. French toast was too cold to melt butter. Syrup bottle- sticky and nasty. Same with ketchup. And seriously- pepper grinds all through the salt shaker. Lots of not caring.
The plants in the freakin windows were dying and they had glade pop up air fresheners on every windowsill that were so full of dust it was gross.
Waitstaff wears black shirts. Restaurant NO NO! The girls looked like they had been in food fights with all the crusty food on their shirts. And this was 2 hours after opening.
The decor in the joint can't look any less like someone just doesn't care about how a place looks.
The booth back wasn't secured and the gal behind me was moving a lot until we noticed the tables weren't connected to the booth backs. We looked and the booth back was not only disconnected and sitting in barely a 2" groove of wood- but the amount of crusty old food down there literally made me ask for the check and leave.
But this is where it gets good. Add 2 cups of coffee to the crab cake dinner (w 2 crappy sides) and French road with eggs and our bill was $33!!!!!!!!!!!
What in the world!?!?!?!?
Food took 35 min with no other tables waiting and no drink refills offered. In fact, I went to the waitress across the place with my empty cup and she took 10 minutes to bring it back refilled.
Oh, and it smelled terrible in there. Mix sour bleach mop with armpit sweat and that's the aroma.
Highly offended that one gentleman stated he was military to get his discount and was told he had to be in uniform. Really?
Sad part, the place was full of seniors. And I hate to see our seniors being robbed like that.
BelAire Pankake House is our normal spot but we wanted to give this place a...
Read moreHosted a party here on 10/19 and was charged double the menu price for FRIED food and sodas. Set up was buffet style, I brought plates, cups, cutlery, etc. Literally made it as easy as possible on the wait staff. Was told we would have a waitress for the event but everyone had to keep going out to find one for soda refills etc. AC in the banquet room was broken so we were all sweating. They even put out more food than what I ordered and are including that in my total. What was ordered was 30 chicken tenders, 30 wings, 30 fried shrimp, 30 mozzarella sticks, 4-5 orders of onion rings and 4-5 orders of bacon cheese fries. They charged me $800 for this plus the cost of sodas for a total of over $1000!!! Subtotal should have been just over $400 for food based on menu prices plus any sodas. When booking the event I was led to believe I would be charged menu prices which is why I didn’t discuss pricing prior to the event. I was also told there was no fee to use the banquet room as long as we ordered food. I’m very pregnant and just paid the tab without thinking in a state of exhaustion and then got home and realized I was over charged. I still tipped the waitress extremely well. What’s sad is I’ve been trying to chat with someone about it since Sunday 10/20 and haven’t been able to get a real response. Was told to come by after 830am on 10/20 and the owner would be there. Stopped by and they weren’t there. Was told they would be there within the hour and I’d get a call when they arrived. Received no call. I called back at 5pm that day and was told by someone else I would get a call back but never did. Stopped in the morning of Wednesday 10/23 and was given a hand written receipt with pricing the owner apparently gave the waitress over the phone. I asked if he realized that was double the menu price and she said she wasn’t sure but took a picture of my online phone order showing what the cost would be (this order even included the “extra” food that was put out without my approval/ordering) and said she would talk to him and let me know what could be done. I have not heard anything since. We are regulars for breakfast and planned on hosting more events here but won’t be back. I am not banking on getting any money back and I guess it’s a good thing they overcharged me cause that was the last penny this establishment will get...
