I give Reaves Park/Reeves Park a 5-star score, only from my originality of being there in the year 1972, I was about age 5 at the time. I was there with many others, close to my age. This was a process affordable just about every weekday, Monday through Friday, from some distance away, from Lexington, OK., U.S.A.. Reaves/Reeves Park, at that time, had what was known as a Tornado Slide. It was a tall slide in the playground, and it had many steps. The steps would fill up with those of us who would blow down that slide like a Oklahoma State Fair ride, The Toboggan. Spiraling down on the Tornado Slide was enjoyable, although I do not know if it is still there. The park was less developed surface featurewise then, in the year 1972. I liked it as such, it was as though it was a place for the Native American white buffalo never to be hunted, but to mix and mingle peacefully with other of their kind. White buffalo are true, sacred, and they are most difficult to find.
I was from Lexington, Oklahoma, U.S.A. at the time, lived in a beautiful brick home at 501 West Catalpa Street, near the southwest corner of Lexington, OK., U.S.A.. My parents were the now late [each now deceased] John Prestley/Presley Skelly, and then Wanda Lee...
Read moreReaves Park is one of the larger parks in Norman. Parking is ample and the layout is very good. There is a main playground with a castle and various play things and a little town with smaller obstacles for younger kids. There is also a larger swing set next to them for older kids/adults. The equipment is a little worn but still very play worthy. Next to the playgrounds is a large open field, pavilions, picnic tables and benches. This is where the Medieval Fair takes places every year. There are restrooms but they are a little run down. Beside all of that are softball fields but they are not for public use. One treasure that many forget to visit is the Veterans Memorial just across the parking from the park. It is a great place to reflect and that those that fought and died for us to be able to enjoy the park...
