Certainly one comes to the rough planked 985 foot pier for fishing, but the beach also offers a nice escape of sun, surf and larger size shells. The pier offers a small cafe, a bait shop run by a crusty looking character that didn’t seem most talkative and a stretch of pier for many of those who were throwing in a line. But sunbathers beware as there are no amenities and the few come with a price. No bathrooms, unless you pay the pier toll of $3 and walk the plank to the outdoor bathrooms that haven’t been updated since the pier was built. Argh, matey. No parking, unless you shell out (no pun intended) $10 for a rough, dirt lot. Even off season parking fee still applies Friday thru Sunday. The young lady in the vehicle by the entrance does nicely inform you that you can park free across the road in the parking ramp. No showers/rinse off station. The one available is in a locked area clearly informing for resort guests only. Eateries are few and far in between and the few we saw had little to no parking. So, fishing yes. Sunbathing no. A lot more beach friendly piers around.

We followed the pier’s instructions and parked exactly where they directed us. According to their own rules, fishing at this pier does not require paying for parking. However, after leaving, we received a $25 ticket! We immediately contacted the pier and called three separate times. Each time, we were assured that no payment was needed and that the issue would be resolved. We trusted them. A month later, we were shocked to receive an even larger fine due to “late payment.” When we called again, the staff gave us no explanation, no solution, and were incredibly arrogant and disrespectful—just telling us we had to pay. I strongly suspect this is a scam orchestrated between the parking lot and the pier staff to cheat customers. ⚠️ I will never come back to this pier, and I strongly warn others to stay away!

Cherry Grove Fishing Pier: A Perfect Family-Friendly Getaway

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Cherry Grove Fishing Pier, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. As a family-friendly destination, this pier offers a wide range of amenities and activities that make it an ideal spot for a memorable day out.

One of the standout features of Cherry Grove Fishing Pier is the ample parking available at a reasonable cost of just ten dollars. It's always a relief to find convenient parking, especially when traveling with a family. This accessibility makes it easier to bring along all the necessary gear and supplies for a fun-filled day of fishing or leisurely strolls along the pier.

Upon arrival, I was pleased to find a well-maintained facility that caters to visitors' needs. The provision of a shower is a thoughtful touch, allowing visitors to rinse off the saltwater and sand before leaving. This attention to detail demonstrates the pier's commitment to providing a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all visitors.

When hunger strikes, the on-site restaurant at Cherry Grove Fishing Pier truly hits the spot. With a diverse menu and delectable dishes, it offers something for everyone. The restaurant staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall positive ambiance. Whether you're in the mood for fresh seafood, mouthwatering burgers, or a refreshing drink, the restaurant ensures a satisfying culinary experience for the whole family.

Moreover, the staff throughout the pier and restaurant are exceptionally friendly and accommodating. From the moment I arrived until I left, I was met with warm smiles and helpful assistance. Their dedication to customer service enhances the overall experience, making you feel valued and well taken care of.

The family-friendly atmosphere at Cherry Grove Fishing Pier is truly commendable. Children can enjoy the thrill of fishing or watching others reel in their catch, creating lasting memories. The pier provides a safe environment for kids to explore and learn about marine life, fostering a sense of wonder and appreciation for nature.

In summary, Cherry Grove Fishing Pier is an exceptional destination for families seeking a day of fun and relaxation. From the abundance of parking space to the convenient shower facility, the pier has thoughtfully catered to the needs of its visitors. The restaurant's delicious menu and friendly staff only enhance the overall experience, ensuring a memorable outing for everyone. I highly recommend Cherry Grove Fishing Pier and can't wait to return for another enjoyable day...

We use to visit this area at least 2x a year. For some reason this year was the worse experience I have ever had at this pier. Not only was it totally over crowded with intoxicated people, but even the mild age teenagers like preteen 12 to 16 I don't know where their parent were but I would never allow my child to be out of my sight for one, for two to show off what God gave them n I'm not talking top and to be so rude to elders n handicap made my heart sunk. I even seen parents of younger kids under age of 6 walk away from their kids, had them dressed in some clothes that was way too revealing and with me sitting there for 3hrs not once did those parents come check on their kiddos or even care I even had two kids come to me ask me if I would help them walk to find their parents it just breaks my heart to see some people just not care what their kids wear, what they themselves are drinking or doing upfront of others, and oh the trash that was left behind from adults it just amazed me. And if that wasn't enough the amount of disrespect for the lifeguards n not following the flag colors and then wonder why they kept getting in trouble with lifeguards. It's nature and a beach everyone please be aware of your surroundings, pick up your own trash, know where your kids are always have eyes on them, don't be rude to elders n handicap people as they have rights to be there too and enjoy the beach, respect the flag colors they are there to protect us from danger. Hoping next time we go it is cleaner, people aren't fighting, trash isn't everywhere, and the water as always is beautiful...

Went to fish off Cherry Grove Pier and I'm just beside myself over what we saw happening. Being that it doesn't require a fishing license I'm sure the DNR would have a hard time getting to every violator because the Pier pays a flat fee for people to fish freely without a license. There is a limit on the number of fish and size as there is in all states but its not being regulated there. We had a guy offer us a king fish and later to be told he had been there since 3 a.m. for king fishing. Which is great, have a blast and catch your limit. Period. They let their coolers hit their max until they caught something bigger and then offer the smaller away so they're not over the limit. Most people have coolers but aren't equipped to haul away a 16lb tuna. Down the pier another gentleman was catching Spanish mackerel, and keeping them even though they were smaller than the 12 inches required. It bothered me so much that these regulations aren't being mandated there. I'm a new resident to South Carolina and I love and cherish the beach and all thats there to offer for both recreation and food. I just wish there was a way to bring attention to what's happening at this pier and I'm sure others as well. I thought a simple solution would be to require an ID of anyone that pays to fish and check coolers on their way out? Let people know the "rules" are being followed to help control the fish populations. The two people that I saw working were at the end of the pier with the fisherman. They are aware of what's happening. That's what saddens...
