We took our dog for a hike on the Mountains-to-Sea Trail through Stones Creek Game Land. It was a really pretty area with diverse areas to walk through - pine savannas, forests and open areas. There are a few ponds around the area, I believe they are burrow pits from the road construction. Old roads/trails follow the shoreline and provide great views. We hiked around Dry Pond and Otter Pond and even spotted some otters (in Dry Pond not Otter Pond). The MST is blazed and easy to follow, but the other roads not so much. Use a navigation device for exploring as it would be easy to get lost. Keep in mind that it's game land, so wear blaze orange during hiking season.
