It had been many years since we went to Indiana Beach. We used to gather the extended family there once each summer. Using Groupon the admission today was reasonable. However, even though it wasn't very crowded, the wait for many of the rides was extremely long due to only running one car on the coasters, only two cars on the antique cars, and only a few logs on the log flume, etc. We were never able to get on the train as it's 3 cars were always crowded and there was not a designated "line" so others jumped in front of us for open seats. The triple loop coaster was only running briefly that we saw and by the time we got to it, it was closed again. Half of the other rides were closed on a rotating schedule (on Sunday of Labor Day weekend). If you missed them before 2 pm, you were out of luck unless you wanted to stay past 8 pm. As others have said, the entire place has the feeling of needing attention.
I was also disappointed that at some point, the miniature golf had been removed from both ends of the boardwalk. This had been a great activity for non-riding grandparents to do with the grandkids.
The quick service food (the only thing they have since the sit-down restaurant appears long-closed) was MORE expensive than a well-known amusement park in Orlando. The most annoying thing was that they have removed ALL of the drinking fountains from the park and charge the same price for a cup of ice water as they do for fountain drinks ($4.00 for ice water is ridiculous). You can also not bring in your own water. Being that most of the park is in the full sun, this policy is not only pathetic but dangerous for guests. The few extra bucks they were able to squeeze out of me on this trip from the desert-like lack of drinkable water will only assure their future monetary loss as I will not...
Read moreWe went here every year with family when I was a child. I have so many great memories and plan to continue making more memories with my child. Obviously this is a small, almost a 100 year old park, so dont expect fancy. Last time I was here, was about 15 years ago. Starting with the positives. I love how easy it is the get through all the rides and have the pleasure of riding them a couple times at least. Food suggestion would be the sweet and spicy donut burger (Bluejay Cafe) and you get your money's worth at the (IB Beach Brew) with a delicious boozey blue slushie. I was happy to say as the day went on some things I thought was shut down ended up opening later, like the Water Log Ride, The Lost Coaster. Water bumper boats were the best part if the day! Obviously Hoosier Hurricane is the crowd favorite and a great 1st coaster ride and with a little extra twist, go on the Cornball Express!! However, I was a little disappointed that for Mothers Day we couldn't ride the Shafer Queen Boat ride. I assume broken down needing parts. After all it is very old. Suggestions to the park. Expand food options.Although my son had zeros complaints about the hotdogs, I would feel better paying for better quality. Some arcade games needed repaired but that's expected. For opening weekend, half the black lights were out at the haunted castle walk through. I had a walking boot so i was being very cautious, but my s9n loved it. Biggest thing I have to mention. Indiana Beach need to have an age requirement without an adult on the sky lift. I dont even trust my 8 year old on it by himself. Please dont let 5 year olds ride it by theirselves.. so dangerous 😳 Last suggestion. Have a map showing locations of rides throughout the park. Overall we had a good day and my son gives 2 thumbs up! Thanks...
Read moreI've reviewed this place before and I can't give a better update. We have been coming here for years and it's struggling. The food is over priced for what you get. The carnival games are all scams. There isn't enough people to run the rides routinely if they are working at all. It's dirty, not well organized, confusing, the rides are falling apart, and saftey seems to be an after thought. On a "busy" day you can expect to wait in line for a long time, most of the time in full sunlight. Yes, I know this isn't Disney or Six Flags or Cedar Point, but you will be paying more money for food than those places at a quarter the quality. It's essentially a glorified ride section at a county fair with no major updates in years, except a unreliable triple loop coaster that looks like it should be condemned. The hotel is significantly out dated. If you are looking for a budget Six Flags with used rides and uncharasmatic staff then this is your place. Be aware that people openly vape in ride lines, spiders and hornets are an issue in the summer, and there are various spaces that are concerning for smaller children (open wires, fall hazards, sharp edges in lines). I cannot recommend this place to anyone, save your money and go somewhere...
