I initially e-mailed this business with some questions and after 3 or 4 hours of not hearing back, I decided to send them a message on Facebook seeing if that might be quicker. The manager seemed put off that I would want to communicate via this method (even though it is 2022 and more people prefer this method rather than calling). She claimed they do not "sit on Facebook". Facebook messaging is like texting. It has nothing to do with spending time on Facebook. I thought her response was a bit rude. If you don't want potential customers contacting your business via e-mail or social media, then remove those options and tell people you only answer phones. It's ridiculous to offer the public these methods of communication then seem put off when they actual use them.||||As far as the room, we were disappointed that the carpet was dirty with stains (this seemed to be the case in the cottages too as we asked to look at someone's cottage while we were there). Some of the tile were missing or weren't applied correctly leaving gaps. The bed was uncomfortable. You could feel the springs in the mattress. The walls are thin and we could hear our neighbors late into the night both talking and coughing. But what was inexcusable was the bathroom floor. It was deteriorated and had a dip right in the middle making going to the toilet a struggle. My husband has been a carpenter for over 30 years now and said if the owner didn't get that fixed, someone would end up with their foot/leg going through the floor at some point in the near future. He even brought this to her attention and he felt she did not take him seriously. When I left a review on Google, she tried to make excuses saying it was and accident caused by a child putting their stuffed animal down the toilet which caused the toilet to leak all over the floor and damage it. Okay, sure accidents happen, but you charge the family who caused the damage and ask them to leave early so repairs can be made before the next customers arrive. She claims it's not a danger. So my husband who's been doing carpentry work for 30 years doesn't have a clue what he's talking about? Also she had an electrical outlet that was loose/broken and could have easily started a fire. She claimed she fixed that immediately after we left so who knows. ||||She advertises a number of amenities but the only ones worth your time are the pool and the fire pits. There's no where really to ride the bikes and she even admitted that to us when we asked about them. The kayaks and paddle boats were filthy and full of spider webs. She claimed this was due to rain they just received before our visit. How could rain cause that much dirt and webs when it's facing eastward in a covered shed area? That made zero sense unless heavy winds were blowing eastward which is rare. Even so, the kayaks sat at the bottom, protected. Paddleboats were propped up against the railing. So how are guests supposed to get those in the water and get them out without getting hurt or causing damage? Not very user friendly in our opinion. ||||For $151 a night we paid, we could have stayed somewhere nicer. Won't make that...
Read moreThis place has both it's ups and downs. I couldn't decide whether to give it 2 or 3 stars. We really wanted to like this place especially after reading all the good reviews but for the price paid, I guess we expected better. Let's start with the positives... the location is perfect as it's only a few minutes walk to Indiana Beach. This made it super convenient for coming back and changing from swim clothes to regular clothes or getting food so we didn't have to spend money at the park. Kitchen had most supplies needed for cooking. The pool was nice and refreshing. Lots of pool accessories to use. Owner has tons of board games if needed for a rainy day. There were two fire pits for anyone staying to use with lots of free firewood available to use. It was our first time kayaking and it was fun but would have been more enjoyable if we wouldn't have had to clean them first. They were pretty dirty with cobwebs, leaves, and dirt on the seats. Wanted to try the paddle boats but they were also dirty. We also didn't want to be responsible for trying to get them in the water. The resort has bicycles but there's really no where around to safely ride them, esp. for kids.
Now the negatives... the carpet had stains (not only in the motel rooms but same thing in the cottages). Kitchen floor tile were loose or missing. Bathroom floor was deteriorated and sinking in front of the toilet. My husband who is a carpenter said it would not take much for someone to fall through that and injure themselves when it finally decides to give way. Every time we had to use the toilet we had to be careful as to not stand in the middle of the floor. My husband is not one to complain about anything but he kept saying the floor situation was just inexcusable. The electrical outlet near the futon had a loose plug on top and could easily start a fire. The bed was not comfortable. You could feel the springs in the mattress. Walls are thin and we could hear everything our neighbors were doing late into the night when we were trying to sleep, even with the A/C running. We think if the owner could put some money into replacing/fixing these items, it would be a more enjoyable...
