Ko Olina Beach Park is a man-designed, man-made elegant landscape, which is an integral part of Ko Olina Resort. The beach has many daily visitors from the neighboring communities along the Waianae Coast and more distant locales across the islands. And, there are vacationers from around the world, who frequent this idyllic location. Ko Olina in Hawaiian means "Place of Joy" or "Place of Happiness." Translated into Japanesd the words become" "Yorokobi no tokoro" or Yorokobi no bashyo." Indeed, it is a stunning and memorable place, where many enjoy their unforgettable visits and stays. This beachhead was originally a vast sugar cane field. And, living among those sugar cane stalks were a countless number of colorful ladybugs. Ladybugs still inhabit these lands. Today, October 20, 2023, one even decided to keep me company by choosing to ride along on my vehicle with me back home. The iconic ladybug image is now the symbol and logos of the Ko Olina Resort and Ko Olina Golf course. It is said that the renouned King Kamehameha loved visiting this region, as a remote hide-out and resting place. Far removed from community activities, he chose to relax, bathe and take in mesmerizing sunsets with his family and warriors. Today, many adore this carefully landscaped property for identical reasons. See for yourself. Also, for all you avid bird-watchers, there is a BIRD ALERT in place. From August through the end of April each year, you'll see an amazing migratory bird visitor from Alaska, called the Pacific Golden Plover, in Hawaiian "Kolea," meaning one who takes and leaves." Each year the Kolea comes to Hawaii in August (the Fall), winters here in the Hawaiian Islands, then returns again to Alaska (it's birthplace) in the the Spring following its winter stay. It makes it's astonishing non-stop (with no in flight meals :):) for the 3,000 miles in 3 to 4 days. Images of the "Kolea" appear later in this post. Please check out the Golden Plover images and engage in your own further research. Your findings will astonish you. NOTE: For still additional, astonishing details about the incredible Pacific Golden Plover, please visit my "Magic Island" post. Rain or shine these landscapes are likely to offer unforgettable views and memories.

Ko Olina Beach Park in Honolulu is a slice of paradise that perfectly encapsulates the beauty and tranquility of Hawaii. During my visit, I was thoroughly impressed by the park's pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and the overall serene atmosphere. The beach park features several stunning lagoons, each offering a unique and picturesque setting. The soft, golden sands and the gentle waves create an ideal environment for swimming, sunbathing, and leisurely strolls along the shore. The water is remarkably clear, making it perfect for snorkeling and observing the vibrant marine life that inhabits the area. One of the standout features of Ko Olina Beach Park is its impeccable maintenance. The grounds are meticulously kept, with lush green lawns and well-maintained pathways that make it easy to navigate the park. The cleanliness of the park enhances the overall experience, ensuring that visitors can fully relax and enjoy their time without any distractions. For families, Ko Olina Beach Park is an excellent destination. The calm waters of the lagoons provide a safe and enjoyable environment for children to swim and play. There are also plenty of picnic areas and shaded spots, making it convenient for families to spend a full day at the beach. The availability of restrooms and shower facilities adds to the park's convenience, ensuring that visitors have everything they need for a comfortable visit. The park's location is another significant advantage. Nestled away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu, Ko Olina Beach Park offers a peaceful retreat while still being easily accessible. The nearby resorts and dining options provide additional amenities and opportunities for a well-rounded beach day experience. In summary, Ko Olina Beach Park in Honolulu is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a beautiful and relaxing beach experience. The combination of pristine beaches, clear waters, and excellent facilities make it a standout location. Whether you're looking to swim, snorkel, or simply unwind by the sea, Ko Olina Beach Park offers an unforgettable Hawaiian escape.

Absolutely beautiful and decently up kept. Sure, there are a lot of people here, with the resorts lining the lengthy walkway that traverses several public lagoons, ie, white sand swimming areas. There is a free parking area, but it's small, cramped, and always full. We laugh at the line of cars waiting in line to hopefully secure a spot for free, when the very next entrance allows for parking all day, with ample spots available, for a cost of $10. Pay the ten bucks and getcha self out on the beach, you ain't here to sit in your car! The first lagoon is often crowded, having the most people settling in to their little slice of paradise at the edge of Oahu, looking out into crystal blue expanse of ocean just beyond the man made rockwall barrier. Walk a little further and you can enjoy less populated beaches, as well as grassy areas, rentals and restaurants at each of the resorts. If you don't mind the touristy feel, or if you are the touristy person yourself, hit up Ko'olina for a day of sun, chill, ocean, beauty and aloha. The water is perfect, the sand is hot, and the views are one of a kind special and amazing! So pack a lunch, load up your wagon, and enjoy a day away from reality!
