We had dinner at Longboard on our first night at the Marriott. Outdoor dining was great since the restaurant sits on prime real estate that boasts a marvelous beach front view. Although the sunset was breathtaking, the sunlight and the temperature may become somewhat uncomfortable. The staff here is very cognizant and will ask you about your seating preference. Although they seem short-handed, the Longboard staff all seem to be very attentive towards their guests. Yes - they all have the Aloha Spirit! They know that the customers are their primary concern and everything else follows thereafter! So we had this tall waiter who memorized everything and anything about Longboard. He didn't use an iPad or memo pad to take down our orders. He gave us his attention - yes, that's what he did! I was a little worried he'd screw up our orders but when our orders arrived, it was "as requested" 100% perfect!!! Now - this experience is rarity these days, and mind you - it's at a beach restaurant in a resort! I didn't expect this kind of top-notch service and not to mention, the food was "ONO!" Now, not "oh, no!," but ONO in Hawaiian meaning delicious! Presentation was superb and talk about ample serving! And all of our dishes - HUGE PORTIONS! You figure beach restaurants have tiny portions but NOT LONGBOARD! They really know the local food culture! The management needs to be complimented here! And with all the price hike and inflation, the menu at Longboard are all reasonable. In fact, they might be cheaper than Waikiki and definitely more in portion for sure! I definitely enjoyed the onion rings here! Gonna be back for sure. Until then, Aloha and stay strong! Mahalo to the awesome staff...
Read moreHorrible service, the worst I've had in Oahu. We went Dec 27th. At 2pm there was a 30 minute wait for a table (despite me being physically able to point to several unoccupied tables). Oh well, no problem, we'll go to the bar and wait....... The bar was 'busy' but not overly so - one layer of die hards in their stools against the bar, then me and one other guy in the 'second row' trying to get a drink. 1.25 bartenders on deck. I say 0.25 because there was 1 guy actually trying to balance the table service drinks, the bar and the ever-growing line of take-out orders, while the second bartender floated in and out of the back room, occasionally managed to scan the room - without ever managing to see me and the other guy who wanted to order - then floated back out again. At this point we decided the pincer movement would work best and divided to attract attention of either of the "staff". Barkeep #1 acknowledges our presence, yet continues to serve take out food orders. After 20 minutes, we give up, hand our vibrating-orb-of-trepidation back to our original Valkyrie and walk back 1/2 mile to get tacos. We probably still got served quicker than we would in this place, and we wouldn't have paid $18 for an ahi burger (unless you went to the Monkey place in which case it was $25!). ...
Read moreDuring our recent family trip to Ko Olina, we decided to indulge in a dinner at Longboards, and it certainly did not disappoint! We were promptly seated, and our server, Elijah was exceptionally fast and friendly, making us feel right at home. The cool, crisp night air added to the ambiance! We kicked off our meal with the Poke Nachos, which were nothing short of spectacular—5/5! I devoured every last bite, which is a rare feat for me. Next up were the fish and chips, also earning a perfect 5/5. They were crispy, hot, and utterly delicious. The garlic fries were outstanding—5/5! They arrived piping hot, perfectly crispy, and crunchy textures. The onion rings were fried to perfection as well—5/5! Each bite was a delightful experience. I also tried the Swordfish Sandwich, which was wonderfully seasoned. The addition of lettuce, onion, and tomato enhanced the dish beautifully, providing a refreshing contrast to the savory flavors. Overall, everything we tried was superb! I was surprised to see mixed reviews for Longboards, as our experience was fantastic, with great food and attentive service. If you find yourself in Ko Olina, I highly recommend giving...
