Ocean Joy Cruises — Local services in Oʻahu

We booked a snorkling trip with Ocean Joy Cruises through our hotel in Waikiki on our first day in Oahu. The trip included a round trip transfer from our hotel to the marina. Our driver arrived at the exact time we were expecting him and he was full of knowledge about the islands of Oahu. His name was Sergey and he made the trip the marina entertaining.

Once we arrived at the marina we waited for about 20 minutes before we got on the boat and headed out of the marina. The crew took us to a spot where dolphins are frequently encountered and said there was a high probability of seeing them. It took about an hour to get there and we saw Spinner Dolphins jumping out of the water immediately. There were so many of them and they swam right up to the boat. It was a great experience.

We then moved on the the snorkling part of the trip which was about 20 minutes back towards the marina. We had a quick briefing then got in the water. It was a little choppy but we were in the ocean which is expected. There were a lot of fish and they chummed the water to see even more. After snorkeling the crew Mani and Elijah served us drinks at the bar and opened a self serve food bar. There was pulled pork and teriyaki chicken with rice, salad, and fresh pineapple. All was good and the drinks were strong. We headed back to the marina while eating our food at a slow cruising speed.

We enjoyed this snorkeling ocean cruise very much! The entire experience from start to finish was pleasant and fun. We booked the morning cruise through the concierge at our nearby timeshare. It was a short walk from our condo which made this super easy. Check in was easy breezy and the entire staff & crew were super friendly & nice. The boat was clean and well stocked. Refreshing cold drinks were available throughout the cruise and a homemade Hawaiian bread pudding was served with coffee when we set sail. ⛵️We sailed along the coast a ways keeping a lookout for wildlife. We saw a group of beautiful eagle rays and stopped to watch them swimming about. We headed back to the snorkeling area and jumped into the refreshing Hawaiian waters to observe sea turtles and lots of colorful fish! This cruise is unique because they have LEXI, a wonderful photographer who took amazing photos. She also served as our very knowledgeable marine guide. Our captain was Patrick. A local with a great sense of humor and an excellent seaman. Spencer made sure we were safe and well cared for the entire time. Last but not least Gayeon is as sweet as can be. She was super attentive and seemed to be everywhere on the boat making sure we had enough to eat, drink and overall had everything we needed. All the snorkeling equipment was sanitized and in really good condition. The lunch buffet was the usual fare and everyone enjoyed it after snorkeling. We have sailed on Ocean Joy Cruises' Kai Oli Oli several times over the past 20 years. It is always excellent. We recently celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with a morning snorkel and had such a wonderful time. The morning Taro Bread (delicious) and coffee were the perfect pre-snorkeling snack. We saw a large pod of dolphin and the Captain positioned us for viewing from all over the boat while also protecting the dolphin from harassment or injury from the boat. We stayed as long as the passengers wanted to stay, and then the Captain slowly and safely moved the boat to our snorkeling site. The hour's snorkeling was wonderful -- great water clarity and a lot of beautiful fish. The staff had the right balance of safety awareness and a "everyone have FUN" attitude. They were friendly, energetic, enthusiastic, and attentive. On the cruise back to Ko Olina Marina, we enjoyed a delicious lunch: Kalua Pork, Teriyaki Chicken, Sweet & Soft Taro Bun, Rice, Green Salad, and Sweet, Juicy Fresh Pineapple.
