I grew up running this trail. I've seen it really go downhill over the years. There is a bridge that has been closed for decades and the path for the most part is not maintained! The city cleaned it up back around 2017 and it was kind of nice for a while but it was already getting worse again into 2019. I moved away in 2020, but went back for a run this week, early 2025 and I was shocked. The entire area has really deterioriated. There is trash everywhere. I mean everywhere - piles and piles of it. Homeless encampments up and down the trail. 10-20 years ago I would pass 50 plus people in the afternoon out excersing. Today, I passed 3 all afternoon - no locals out enjoying a cool afternoon. Read moreMe and my husband ran on this trail. We parked at restaurant 604, ran 5 miles out and back. I had mixed feelings on it. Sometimes it was gorgeous with beautiful views by the water but mostly it was sad because of the hoards of trash and horrible smells along the way. I strongly don't recommend traveling this path alone. Even with my husband I still felt uneasy. There are tents and people living all along the trail. It got really sketchy at mile 5, it went into a wooded area filled with garbage. Its a shame that we live in such a beautiful place but people don't respect it enough to clean up...
