The style of laser tag is truly solid, very fun game once you get into playing.
Management could use some work. Our group was new. When we arrived we were grumpily handed new player cards and when our organizer asked any questions whatsoever she was sighed at or spoken to in a curt manner.
Some of our group got pretty heated about the manner in which our group leader was spoken to and the younger employees handled that pretty well. It wasn't until the older gentlemen got involved again, I guess he was the manager, that things dissolved. He again tried to pass the buck onto our group's leader in a manner I highly doubt would happen were she a man.
We had fun inside, except our ninth who wasn't allowed to play. At one point we were chastised about how many shots we were using of the CO2, because there's apparently a shortage. Completely understandable but maybe don't approach it as the customer being a problem ("Now we have to switch to sniper mode because you all blew through your allotment.") rather maybe just apologize and explain it's just something unavoidable right now.
The customer isn't always right, and there were moments some in our group were likely not being appropriate, but that was after repeatedly dealing with a "manager" that really needs to re-evaluate some things. Honestly he could probably take a lesson or two about customer service from the teens working part time.
Hopefully this was just...
Read moreI've gone a couple of times to play now, and have had the same experience every single time. The experienced players are friends with the refs, so they really get a free pass to do whatever they want. Blind fire, blocking sensors, running, shooting out of upper-level windows- all of which the refs tell everyone not to do. It kind of ruins the experience when you can't even leave your base without dying. Absolutely no balancing takes place, so you'll usually see one one team with 20 to 30 kills each and the other team has maybe one or two kills each with 10 to 15 deaths each. I've played paintball for a number of years, and regularly play VR first person shooters, which follow the exact same principles as this iCombat. How is it that I can be a top contender in a match of paintball- which requires adjusting shots for wind and distance- yet in laser tag- completely straight shots, no recoil- I can't walk two feet without getting shot in the head? Multiple players were referencing bouncing lasers off walls and down corridors, which I experienced multiple times as I would be hidden behind crates on all sides and I would spontaneously die. Compared to a 5-6 hour paintball open play for $25-30, this is a huge waste of money as you are just going to die constantly unless you devote every imaginable weeknight and spare dollar to learning this game and the map with its infinite number...
Read moreWe went last Sunday for a friend's birthday, we had a huge group of people but not all the slots were taken so some of the employees joined in. No one out of our group had been there before so we were all excited, but some of the employees were getting mad at each other while they were playing.. could have broken out into a fight if someone didn't stop it..
The elites/employees who joined took it way too seriously... my friend stopped to ask if she was hit and I was like no your light is off and one of the "elites" ran by and said with an attitude "We don't have time for this"
We had elites/employees camping near the spawn point which was a rule not to do that. I'm telling you we couldn't take a step out of the spawn room without getting lit up.
We even had one guy walk into the spawn room and shoot a bunch of us. Just getting their main score up.. (We were all in there talking about how they were ruining the game)
These elites/employees tried to direct us and tell us how to play, I understand explaining how to play each round, but telling us where to stand and where to go is too much.
We were all pretty annoyed with them. Each one of us had a negative situation happen. We all agreed that they took the fun out of the experience. We just wanted to play Lazer tag with our buddies without it being serious. Felt like I was in a Call of duty lobby.
A group of about 14 of us...
