A year ago spotted this campground as we were filling up with gas across the river. Looked cute so booked a tent campsite a few weeks ago and was placed a ways away from the rest of the campground on site #22. Instinctively, we knew this wasn't our idea of tent camping. It was a field with a rickety bonfire pit and a picnic table that we would not trust anyone to sit at or even touch. It was only for one night so we'll make it work. Couldn't sleep because of all the traffic noise but somehow managed to get a few winks in before waking at 6:00 a.m. to ANTS all over the inside of our tent! They covered the entire inside of our tent and watched a stream of ants marching up and down the walls. We hope that this doesn't happen to anyone else. We wish people would be honest in their post because it could have saved us this...

No staff onsite and we didn't want to just take another site should it be reserved. These Daily sites are not set up well, but it was very clear this other party was completely in our site and part of theirs. Both of us were told "oh you can use it as a pull thru". Well not if both sites are booked. Another camper went and talked to someone who said some other sites were not booked so we did move. Thank you Sir who stepped in but not happy that staff booked both sites that no longer would have been a pull thru and shame on the people who knowingly took another site, refused to move and had no remorse. Will likely...

We saw geese, caught fish🐟 (sheepshead) and the occasional wild monkey 🐒would swing through. We took a ride way out to the nearby breakwater and to city park where the grandsons played in lake Michigan. Note for next time - bring a rake and make sure we have a spot with shade. Also we had gnats and skeeters by our site on the river. Part of our group was in the shade in the tenting area...
