I've been to this place a many times over the years and never had issues until today. This morning I went here to have three keys cut for a car I just got, two oem transponder keys I got off ebay since the dealer wants an excessive amount for them (for an old 08 model) let alone to cut and program them (which takes all of 3 minutes), and a simple blank HD sells to cover the use of the machine and so I have a backup I can keep in the house to unlock the doors for whatever reason.
So I go in and wait by the key machine for a bit, then look along the aisles for employees who may be stocking the shelves, and I see one and ask him to see about cutting these keys. He then calls over this one older guy when he sees it's a transponder key I hand him to use as a master for the blanks. This guy that was called over says he won't cut them due to liability reasons, risk of damage and such. A song and dance I never got years ago when I asked them to cut a car key I brought in and a spare from them previously.
I told him this wasn't a problem and I'd eat the cost if the cutting failed on any of them(because I knew it was next to impossible for them to be damaged by the cutting machines they use. A trained cat could use them.), and even pointed out he had a witness to me saying this in the form of the original guy I asked to cut these keys.
But no, he would only cut a key I buy from them since if he messed up it could be replaced right there and that was it. So I left, and went to East Liberty Home Depot where they cut the oem keys and a 3rd non-transponder key I wanted to buy as a spare for the doors. All keys work and all chip keys are programmed to the car thanks to a programmer I got for 90 dollars and works on numerous makes across two decades. I guess I will be taking my business to East Liberty then. Not as convenient but I would rather support that store...
Read morethe Store Manager at Home Depot at 440 Home Drive told me this: (1) He, as store manager, will cancel ANY order at ANY time (2) No notification will EVER be given to a residential customer (3) Efforts to fulfill the promised order via other stores or online will NEVER be taken for a residential customer (4) if you order lumber through Home Depot, you might or might NOT get a delivery, and you WILL NOT be given any notice or reason.
** All of these are contrary to what Home Depot corporate Customer Service told me is Home Depot "hopes" for a store manager, but ULTIMATELY, the Store Manager has prerogative to treat ANY customer in ANY MANNER they choose, and no reason need be given.
This Home Depot Store Manager, at 440 Home Drive, is DEFINITELY one of the bad ones. I had to learn that lesson again, after giving them a second chance from similar issues two years ago. BTW: I live in a very safe neighborhood, adjacent to the police and the fire department of my township. You can leave packages anywhere in plain sight for days, and NO ONE will bother therm. All sizes of delivery trucks have been at my place and at neighbors. There is NO reason to cancel an order coming to my address.
Many apologies from corporate, and the issue escalated...but their hands are apologetically tied due to Home Depot policies.

Read moreWe ordered carpet through Home Depot Installation Services at the beginning of July and set install for end of August. Home Depot subs out the services to a third party, ACS, and the experience was discombobulated, frustrating, and altogether terrible. They cancelled multiple times over and sometimes the day of as late as 7 pm. There is no one to reach on the weekend to get answers from them. We had to speak with Home Depot directly multiple times to get the sub to move forward. After that they installed our carpet in September and installed a different color on our steps from everywhere else and gouged our baseboards very badly all over the 2nd floor. We called home Depot to explain the wrong color, they worked on it and scheduled a reinstall of the steps for November. Once again, install time came and they cancelled 3 different times and finally came in December and installed satisfactorily, but after conversations with Home Depot to push them to come. Also asked Home Depot to call back to discuss this issue after the installation was complete and never received a call. Our conclusion is do not use home Depot for installation services. Hire a locally owned company who cares about the process and outcome of your project. Home Depot and ACS don't, and really don't care how their constant rescheduling...
