When my fiancé now husband and I toured the Oklahoma History Center (OHC), the events coordinator did a superb job answering all my questions and questions that I didn’t even think of yet. He showed us all the floors and provided potential layout ideas. It was a warm and welcoming environment. I loved the open layout and all the natural light in the Devon Great Hall. From that moment, I knew we found the perfect venue for our wedding reception. Moreover, I received a list of preferred vendors, which was extremely helpful for me since I did not have a wedding planner. I will say, if you do go about this route, hire a wedding coordinator to execute your day of event. Since the OHC was already familiar with the listed vendors, most of them provided discounts since the OHC is a preferred venue. Additionally, I booked this venue a little more than a year out to secure the date that I wanted. The OHC can provide uplighting in your choice of colors all throughout the halls and technical support if you would like to have a slideshow played. They also provide tables and chairs. The other decorative items will need to come from a vendor. There are as well lots of ideal locations inside and outside of the facility for photos. The museum parking lot is free too and had plenty of spaces, which our guests appreciated. Ultimately, the replica of Wiley Post’s world-famous Winnie Mae airplane overhead and the view of the State Capitol are all too stunning.
The Venue Supervisor, Scott Parker, and his staff are phenomenal to work with. He’s responsive and helped execute a wedding reception for the books. We are so grateful to them. Overall, if you decide to have your special event here, you will not regret it! I can’t say enough of how wonderful and smooth our event went. Every photo at the OHC by our photographer was breath-taking. The photos in my review are by our amazing photographer,...

They also have one of the better displays of Indian culture that goes well beyond beads and baskets. When you come in a docent will give you a map and proceed to give you an "orientation". This orientation lasted about 15 long and painful minutes as he went over every major thing in each gallery. If you absolutely must give an orientation, please keep it down to one minute or less. Just point out restrooms, café, and that galleries are found on the first and third floors. Otherwise just say that you are available for any further questions and let guests be on their way. They need plenty of time to see the displays and don't have an extra 15 minutes to waste on an...
