No Oklahoma Travel Guide? Let Me Fill That Gap! 🙋🏻♀️
Starting from Austin, TX, it takes a little over 6 hours by car 🚘 to reach Oklahoma (OK). 📍 Wheeler Ferris Wheel at Wheeler District (OKC Landmark) 🎡 It’s a small park with a Ferris wheel and a lake. The only real reason to visit is to check in at this OKC landmark—there’s not much else fun to do here. 📍 Oklahoma City Museum of Art It’s a small art museum with fairly average exhibits. Still, it’s a nice spot for taking photos 📸. 📍 Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum I give this museum a full 5-star recommendation ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐! Outside the museum, there are memorial monuments and a small park. Inside, it vividly and truthfully tells the story of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, with realistic reenactments that make you feel like you’re right there in the moment. It’s so worth a visit! 📍 Paseo Arts District (OKC Art District) 🎨 This area has art exhibitions and small souvenir shops. It’s nice to wander around and snap some photos 📸. 📍 Lake Hefner (Lake Lighthouse) The scenery here is stunning during sunset 🌇—it’s perfect for taking great shots! There are also restaurants by the lake, making it a lovely spot for a romantic meal 💑. 📍 Near Tulsa: Route 66 Historical Village Famous as part of America’s Route 66, this village has lots of vintage trains 🚞, classic Route 66 road signs, and retro street markers. It’s a nostalgic little spot to explore. 📍 Buck Atom's Cosmic Curios on 66 This is another fun Route 66 stop with quirky souvenir shops and cartoon character sculptures 🦸♂️. Browsing here is a blast, and you can pick up fridge magnets 🧲 and other cute mementos. 📍 Center of the Universe If you’ve watched the famous Sylvester Stallone TV show Tulsa King, you’ll know this is Tulsa’s downtown area—and it’s called the "Center of the Universe"! Legend has it that if you stand in the circle in the middle and talk, people outside can’t hear you 🧏🏻♀️ (that’s how it’s portrayed in the show). But guess what? It’s actually a myth 😂—people outside can hear you loud and clear! So don’t badmouth anyone while standing in that circle 🤣. 🏨 Accommodation Prices for hotels in OKC are super affordable—most are around $100 per night. One thing to note, though: OKC charges an Occupancy Tax, which is 5.5% of the nightly room rate (applied every night). I heard this tax is used for city construction and development, but who really knows? 🤷🏻♀️ 🍚 Food Eating out in OK is cheap too! Here are two restaurants I recommend: Mandarin Taste (Chinese food) – Delicious and authentic 🍜. Culprits (American Western cuisine) – Their steak is tasty and won’t break the bank 😋. All in all, Oklahoma is budget-friendly, and traveling here is super relaxing. It’s the perfect weekend getaway for friends in Texas looking to explore nearby places ☀️. #Oklahoma #TulsaKing #Tulsa #Route66 #OklahomaCity #USRoadTrip #BudgetTravel
