Great place for a nature walk. Be ready for bugs in the summer (long sleeves/pants recommended). The whole place is bursting with life, including some interesting fungi (see photos). There are a number of low-lying areas where the trail becomes a creek during heavy rain; be aware of the weather.
Fall and winter walks also are nice here.
For a tad longer walk perhaps with less company, try the Green Trail (~3 mi). Passes through an interesting swamp with Eastern Redcedar. All the trail options are enjoyable, though.

Looks like some trail upgrades have taken place after hurricane Sandy in 2012. If you're ambitious maybe walk the blue or red routes, the yellow if you're looking to walk for a shorter timeframe. Read moreThis is the entrance to the Blue Trail. The only challenge of Cheesequake are the bugs so generally I wear the face nets (very cheap on Amazon or equivalent). Bug spray is generally useless because these bugs are very aggressive. Besides, in the high humidity of NJ summers the bug spray gets washed off by perspiration leaving you exposed completely!!
