You can’t go far in New Jersey without seeing or hearing a highway and this scenic spot is no exception with views of the parkway off in the distance. The crabbing bridge is a great spot to sit and enjoy the salt marsh that surrounds you. Its not just crabbing that you can do from here. Eel fishing and bird watching are also great.
The park dates to 1940 but this bridge is much newer. In 1954 a temporary road was constructed across the salt marsh, where the trail boardwalk and bridge exist today, and removed a year later which may have been related to the construction of the parkway nearby. My only complaint are all the new people that come to the park and disregard all the signs that say take your trash with you.
