Solo morning in Old Fort at Mountain Gateway Museum It was a solo trip down to Old Fort, NC to check out Mountain Gateway Museum. The museum has a couple of exhibits called, "A Thousand Words: Photographs by Vietnam Veterans" and "Inspiration in the Mountain: Writers & Western North Carolina" that I wanted to see. The exhibits were good. The staff was very kind and helpful.

Not far off of Interstate 40 and free of charge (donations accepted gladly) plus you get to learn about the town's Appalachian history and its early settlers.
