Great Plains Black History Museum — Attraction in Omaha

I had the wonderful opportunity of exploring the Great Plains Black History Museum during a short trip to Omaha. I am so thankful I made time to see it. I LOVED this museum. It’s intimate, but you’ll never forget the tour, the photographs, the images, the HISTORY held within this space. I was so impressed by the historical knowledge of the director. All my life, I had seen the harrowing image of Will Brown, but had never seen him humanized, until my visit to this museum. I had a chance to see him for the very first time, and hear his story. The Great Plains Black History Museum was Nebraska Passport stop number 55 for us in 2024. We were very warmly greeted by the young man minding the museum that day who was very patient with us answering our questions and telling us about the new museum being built.
