Nice lake with big amount of opportunities for a walking, jogging, fishing and just relaxing. Lake equipped with a benches along the bank. There are many different kind of birds here. Very beautiful place even doesn't matter on high voltage line nearby. Public parking (about 15 cars), restrooms and trash containers (please don't leave garbage at the bank).
Fishing is really exciting!!! You could catch here many trouts, basses, crappies and big carps. Lakes regularly stocking with the fishes. When I was here in the early morning or late evening before sunset I always had many bites and catches and never back home upset. Please use barbless hooks about #8 if you are going to catch and release or sport fishing, because sometimes responses very small species here and you could very easy damage them with triple or double big sized hooks.
Advised tackle for success fishing which I've been used here: "Fast ultralight spinning rod 604-704 size, spinning reel with 1000-3000 spool size, thread line 2-6lb (#0.2-0.4 by Japan), fluorocarbon 2lb (about 20-30 inches long), very small swivel and clasp (for fast changing lures), spoons and spinners 1/12-1/4oz weights in different colours and shapes (at least you should have about 5 different ones)"
Enjoy and have fun. Very recommend visiting this place...
Read moreBethany Lake, a.k.a. Rock Creek Pond is a nice little tranquil Sanctuary in the middle of the Bethany/Rock Creek neighborhoods providing a nice place to view Wildlife and Birds, as well as being a close in Fishery fo Bass, Panfish, Bullheads and Clone Fish (Hatchery Trout) for the Beginning Fishermen as well as the Advid Angler. Power Bait and/or Worms will always get some kind of bite. For those more experienced Anglers willing to work a little, the are some decent Holdover Trout and some larger Largemouth Bass up to 5# hiding in there. They do have a severe case of lock jaw however and it takes some real finesse to get any of them to bite. Be aware that actual fishable access is limited and the pond is filled with Cabbage (Weeds) and Structures (Snags)... with limited shoreline points to fish... and Landmines (Bird and Dog droppings)... there is also a large grassy area for Sports, relaxing and Picnics if you like. Bethany Lakes offers a nice walking path with limited parking just off of...
Read moreThis park has a small pond that you can fish out of. About 75% of the pond is publicly accessible. There is a large mowed field that runs parallel to the pond where you can have activities. Most people play with their pets in this area. A paved trail also goes east across 185th, across that field and then off into various areas where it splits. West the trail goes along the pond and then splits with one side going into a neighborhood and the other continuing to the country club, along some of their fairways and on to the soccer fields on Rock Creek Blvd. There is a lot of wildlife to watch and listen to (ducks, song...
