A nice place with decent wine, but their pricing seems sleezy.
The tasting fee wasn't listed on their website, so my friends and I asked about it as soon as we got there: $25, nonrefundable with bottle purchases. Because it was nonrefundable, we bought a bottle and drank it there. They added a $10 corkage fee--for their own bottle to be consumed on their premises, which of course doesn't make sense. Naturally, they didn't tell us about this added nonsense fee in advance.
Also weird: After we bought the bottle, she poured it for us and then took it away for a while.
UPDATE: I appreciate their response below, but we never thought to ask about a corkage fee for their own wines since we never heard of that before at any of the many wineries we've been to. Live and learn! Congratulations, Day Wines--you are famous. Whenever we go to a new winery and ask about a corkage fee for their own wine and get weird looks, we tell them about your...
Read moreJust stopped in on a relaxing Saturday after lunch with in-laws. Wanted to come here for years, a few wine merchants in Portland had recommended it and I was excited to go. But I should have known it was going to be bad when I heard “Psycho Killer” being blasted from the place before we even got out of the car. The two women in charge of the pours were drunk and nearly belligerent with us. They shouted at us “WOULD YOU LIKE A WINE TASTING?!? YOU’VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE HAHAHAHA!” There were two other women drinking with them and dancing, yelling at us about how amazing the wine is. They were all shouting over each other and it was such a buzz kill. So unprofessional...
Read moreI'd driven by Day Wines so many times with the idea that one day I would not drive by. July 5th was the day that my friend and I decided to have our 1st visit and, hopefully, enjoy some wine tasting. Our server, Leyla, was awesome! With her help, and only after having tasted one wine, their Isla Vermentino, we purchased a chilled bottle of it and enjoyed every delicious sip! With a dish of crisp potato chips to accompany our wine, we soaked up our peaceful and relaxing wine experience as we sat in their beautiful covered patio. This was a great wine experience for both of us, and we will be sure to come back again and again to try their long...
