La Sierra Mexican Grill Dundee. — Restaurant in Dundee

Food was nice. You could tell there was effort and real people involved. It was very comforting, nothing outstanding, though.

Service was a mixed bag. They sat us in the very corner of the bar area, away from the busy area of the restaurant. We saw a food runner and a busser then our server who attempted a drink order and we did not have a drink menu yet. Then we saw the food runner again. Then our server. Then another waitress saw we were done and wanted our check. Then our server came out. Then the food runner brought us boxes for our food. Then a busses cleaned up. We left a $10 cash tip, but that means everyone involved gets like $2 if they share? It was a bit confusing, especially since it was us and one other two top in the entire bar area.

The atmosphere seemed isolated since you can look thru the little window at the booth and see a fun, smiling, laughing crowd of people enjoying themselves on the other side, but they put us in the dead section with no energy saying it was cooler over there... and it seemed like we had no dedicated attention, like the section wasn't assigned to anyone and they were all just making an effort to check in.

I dont normally leave reviews but this experience was horrible. We ate here about 3 years ago and it was excellent. Today was the worst mexican restaurant experience. It took too long for any service, to get seated, to get menus, chips, drinks, food, etc. Our chips were soggy. He acknowledged spilling water in there. Then why serve them? No apology, no offer for replacement. We asked for green salsa at the time the chips had been delivered..that came after our food. $6 drink had no flavor. It was all spritzer, no lemon or vodka. The enchiladas were piled high with things my husband cannot eat but not listed on the menu it would be on top. The chicken taco carbon had no flavor at all. It was almost all quac. Who stirs the grilled chicken with all the guacamole into a slurry like that? The rice had no flavor. I don't understand how they can serve food like this. When we complained, he said he was trying to help us. What? There was a couple people playing lottery and one guy at the bar. That was it but it still took over an hour and we didn't eat. Was a 5 star place the last few times I have gone but when you have a 70 dollar bill don't add a debit card fee to your bill and still expect a tip. That's horrible service. Won't be coming back...since I cannot reply to the owners response in a separate reply, I'll put it here.... Does it say anywhere at all other than the receipt that there is a cash discount? Is there a free ATM to use for customers that don't normally carry cash? If not then there is a fee even if you don't officially have a one, there still is one... If there is a plain as day knowledge of a cash discount over credit card I'd be more than likely to have cash on me when visiting the restaurant. Telling a customer after they have already ordered and had their food is almost no different than having a fee. Not giving anyone that didn't bring cash the same ability to pay the lower price...while you don't officially have a fee, You do have the fee that the card companies charge you built into the menu which is totally fine and acceptable..offering the discount after the fact is not cool though when there are so many people that do not carry cash.
