This waterfall isn’t far from the trailhead. A little dried up when we visited at the end of August, but the hike and area is absolutely lovely. The drive to this area is nice and refreshing with beautiful mountains full of green trees, farms, neat houses and the drive up the road to McDowell creek is a little out there but worth it. We drove in and did a whole loop coming up from Salem and then going down towards Brownsville.

Beautiful place!! About 1 1/2 from Portland ( might be a few minutes more) It is free I went about 9:30 in the morning and there were just a couple of cars but in my way out (about 11) saw lots of family getting there. Its not a difficult hike. Also next to it is MAJESTIC FALLS. You literally cross the street and hike your way up. Lots of stairs. But lots of nice spots to sit and relax

There are few places in Oregon as stunning as this one. We had a picnic lunch, on the second terrace of Royal Terrace falls. What an amazing experience! Please go visit! Please make sure to leave no trace, pick up your litter, and please DO NOT PICK TRILLIUM, THEY TAKE 7 YEARS TO GROW BACK.
