I had the unfortunate pleasure of playing this place for the first time yesterday. not sure how it gets an overall 4 star review on Google, but I'm here to tell you it is anything but that. After pulling into the parking lot, the first thing you are greeted with is a large blue tarp covering a sizeable portion of the roof of the clubhouse. That should have been enough to make us turn around, but we didn't. I will just preface this with the fact that both myself and the person playing with me yesterday are not great golfers by any means, but there are certain things you would come to expect from a golf course where this place falls short. Signage is poor. We parked in the main parking lot and walked in the doors of what is apparently the restaurant, we had to work our way through the building and downstairs to find the pro shop. Once we left the proshop and had our bags loaded up, we then could not figure out where the first hole was, thankfully someone else who had been there before pointed us in the right direction. This was also true for the 10th hole, as we could not immediately find it. There are signs for other holes, and directions that guide you under tunnels, and for the driving range, but the 1st and 10th holes, nothing. This place does not drain well, AT ALL. While in the proshop we were informed that it would be cart path only. We abided by the rules, but quickly found out that the cart path doesn't actually exist throughout the entire course, it just ends, so we followed it to the best of our ability. We both lost balls in the fairway yesterday on multiple occasions, colorful (yellow and pink balls) right in the middle of the fairway, just gone. Again, it was that wet the ball would go up, come crashing to the ground, and leave a crater sized hole in the fairway, we spent time looking for our balls, but only had a 25% success rate in actually finding them. I wasn't aware how much rain that side of Orlando had received the night before, but where I live (East Orlando) it barely rained, so I didn't think this would be something I'd need to be concerned with. We both left very muddy yesterday, my clubs and cleats were filthy. The tee boxes for the most part are terrible (see the picture that I've included of the 15th or 16th hole as an example). The fairways weren't much better than the rough, you could see on some holes that there was a defined "fairway", but it was not manicured at all, it just happened to be a little shorter than the rough, but was like hitting out of my backyard. The putting greens were the lone bright spot, MOST of them were okay, not spectacular at all, but not the worst I've ever seen.
For the price ($32 through golfnow) this place should be ashamed. There are a few other courses in the Orlando area (winter pines for example) that are much nicer and charge the same or less with a much...
Read moreI never leave full reviews, only stars with golf. I'm a positive person. I say my worst round of golf is better than 96% of everything else, so good or bad, I'm usually happy about playing.
I have to commend one staff member there. Roy was more than welcoming! During my days as a pro at Celebration over 20 years ago, we were told to act like THIS IS OUR COURSE, and the people playing are our personal friends playing at OUR OWN course. This is how Roy made me feel. Life he was this course owner and it was a priceless to be a guest at HIS COURSE.
Carts were low, so from the bag drop I carried my own bag, down the hill to the pro shop, then on to the range. After hitting some balls to warm up, I carried my bag back to the pro shop area to wait for a cart. Roy saw one available at the top of the hill and offered to carry my bag, and my bag is heavy, carrying all the necessities, or tools, for me to play, I the hill to the carts. Above and beyond us what he did there. He did more than he had to, to get my round started.
As for the condition, if you've played this course 10 years ago, it was tournament condition all the time. As many other courses, some closing down completely, conditions got very bad. MetroWest went form, but had small improvements again and again through the years. But this year, they made HUGE improvements in course condition! Just from the summer to now, December, it's a huge difference!
And they seem to be keeping it as a "working man's course" as I like to call them. Golf courses designed for middle class golfers, who might be able to, but don't wanna pay $100-300 for a single round of golf! Good rates, beating many other area courses, and the ones less than this, are still in the bad condition with little improvement.
I've always loved this course, in my 25 years in Florida, mostly in central Florida, and now I...
Read moreWe were looking forward to a great Saturday morning, it was our first time playing at your course, and we were genuinely excited. However, the experience quickly took a disappointing turn. Although our tee time was scheduled for 7:30 AM, we were sent out at 7:48 AM. While delays can happen and are often understandable in golf, what followed was not. We found ourselves waiting at nearly every hole, which, again, can be expected from time to time.
The real issue began when the course “marshal”, Michael, approached us. He drove up directly into our drive path while we were teeing off, then proceeded to tell us we needed to "keep up." The manner in which this was communicated was unnecessarily aggressive and unprofessional. It felt more like a confrontation than a courteous reminder, which we were always on top of the group before us and no one pressured us from behind mind you .
Unfortunately, this was not an isolated incident. He returned again and accused us of being a hole behind and claimed groups were waiting on us. This was simply untrue, as we have video proof to support it. What’s more concerning is that this level of scrutiny seemed to be directed only at our group—coincidentally, the only minority group on the course that morning.
To make matters worse, he hovered near the green in his cart during our putts, causing a distraction and further delay, directly contradicting his own concerns about pace of play.
This experience left a very negative impression. As someone who knows and interacts with high-level golf officials, I can confidently say they would be extremely disappointed to see this kind of behavior at a course that might be considered for hosting top-tier events or even playing here .
We hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the conduct of staff toward guests, particularly in how they engage and communicate...
