We live about ten to fifteen minuets away. I wish that I had realized to buy the year pass a long time ago. We go so frequently, a family of five can buy the year membership for about just two visits to the park. We love everything about the park, and it is also extremely CLEAN every single time we have gone there. No litter, trash, junk ect. The entire grounds including the parking lot is immaculate. Which is such a complement considering how many people go on any weekend day. We also have attended in the past the "holiday" events and each year I tell myself Why did I not attend this event years before, how is this the first time I am attending which ever event it is. I have thoroughly enjoyed it. Just as much if not more than my kids. The animals, all seem like they cuddle and love on the workers. Such as the sheep, goats, cow and ponies. So adorable to interact with and the staff/volunteers do a great job. I love how there are so many different interactive things for the kids to do such as, free trike rides, hayride, feed the baby goats bottles, feed the goats pebbles, ducks feedings, ect.. Then you also have the nature trail in the back of the park and three or four playgrounds and the food shops in front. We have spent an entire day yet again here and not completed every activity. I feel like every spring when we arrive after the winter closings, that they have added, improved or continued to innovate the park. Making it so amazing time after time. What also is a MAJOR WIN WIN is that when the park is closed, there is also a medium/small attached outdoor playground available to the children. Such a life savor on days when you just want an hour of playground time but not the whole park. Can not say enough great things!! If I would make ONE recommendation it would be to have an available bathroom with a changing station for that outdoor park area. As well as possibly consider gating the perimeter of that park solely due to one side having a sidewalk ramp up to the road/main road side walk for access. As well as the back portion having a wooded area with a creek. I say this because of how many times children are not paying attention and either attempt to run into the wooded area after going down the slide that curves to face it and or the children playing tag and ruining on / up the edge of that sidewalk. As a parent as long as I am watching my children I feel very comfortable without this external gate. However, not all parents/ adults supervision as closely which can be a bit...
Read moreI had never heard of this place, so when I found out about it, I was excited to check it out. I read the reviews and was then even more excited about going!
I was able to take a stroller in, and was able to take in drinks and snacks of my own, so that was nice. When getting my ticket scanned, the lady told me that I could get a family membership for just a little more than I had paid for the 5 of us to get in, and that they'd count today's visit as part of the membership payment. So that was definately a plus. The membership is good for a whole year, so we can go next year as well as for the rest of this year.
The majority of the reviews I read, said the staff was so nice, inviting, and friendly. However, I have to slightly disagree. The older women were definately nice, but the younger and middle aged ladies weren't so much. When we went to bottle feed the baby goats, there were about three or four ladies huddled in a group. One of them greeted us at the gate- but she didnt smile, nor did she seem happy to be there at all. To be honest, I kinda felt like a nuisance. Mind you, Ive never been there, so I didnt know that I needed to purchase the bottles next door. When I asked this lady about bottle feeding them, she simply said there out of them and that the goats were full. So we could only pet them. Which the kids were happy with, but thats what I was most excited about. And had that been the case, I would have been okay with it- instead when we were done there, we walked just a little further and then seen the sign for where to buy the bottles. I could have bought one anf went back, but I didnt want to go back and feel like I was a bother again. I just wish she would have redirected us instead of saying they were out.
The girls in the icecream parlor seemed patient, but they weren't offering any extra words. More of just getting everyone out the door as fast as they could, and keeping a smile on their face. Which I can appreciate, I just didnt feel that welcoming/friendliness that I had read about in so many reviews.
Overall, my experience was okay. It was somewhere I had never been, and had some cool things to do- definately for the younger kids. The staff was more stand-off-ish than I had hoped for, but it could have just been an off day. Ill be going back one day soon, so we will see if its better then.
I do recommend this for a family outing- and look forward to another visit to see the rest of what I didn't get...
Read moreWhat a great place to learn about farming, especially for the price! $3 a person, 2 and under are free.
Came across this place when doing a Google search for activities with kids. Decided to go since the weather was beautiful and we wanted to be outside. Glad we made the trip.
Coming from a farming state, Wisconsin, and knowing a lot about farms, I wasn't sure what to expect visiting another state to learn about farms. This Center reminds me of a beautiful garden, mixed with petting zoo, informational old world center, and playground. There was tons to do for the cost, and we ended up spending almost a half day here with our two school-aged children. Their favorite part was probably the baby goats or mining rock area. We really enjoyed the garden area and enchanted forest in the back.
Another thing to point out, is that the food is very fairly priced for in the attraction. Sometimes we go to places, and the food will be more expensive then it cost to get in. Here is not the case. I would say the food is very reasonably priced. We ended up getting both ice cream and lunch since we stayed so long.
Another bonus point for this center is that it does have a gift shop, but you do not need to walk through it to get in or out. It is in its own separate building. This is very convenient, considerate, and nice for parents.
The employees were very nice, many were in character depending on the area they were in. The center itself was very well kept and clean. There was ample parking although one side of the entrance was blocked for construction. We did go on a Saturday, and it was very nice out so the Farm Center was packed. We did not feel like we had to wait for anything besides ice cream oh, and there was still a little room to spread out. There are many buildings you can go in, however most of the farming Center is outside. So it might be a good idea to plan to bring rain gear if you go on a day with a inclement weather.
Overall, very need place to visit. I would recommend this to...
