I'm not sure if it's the brown meat that lines the cases, the fact that I've bought bad meat three three times (yes it was in date), the putrid smell that sticks to your clothing and wreaks of oppression and bad choices... or perhaps the rotten produce but this place is special. It could be the cheese I bought once that was well over a month expired. It's the kind of place you want to go if you are looking to feel better about your life, unless you have to shop there, then you'll feel worse. It's one of those places that you ask yourself if the health department even tries. The grayish tinge to the pepperoni on the pizza the other day did just the trick to make me stick to my diet, the people who work there remind me of the meat, as if the bacteria is transferred to humans, making them pallid, lifeless. Everytime some one leaves there is a longing in their dull eyes, "take me with you" they seem to say as the dirty doors slide shut.
I've tried to like Hitchcocks out of convience, I've given them more chances than I gave any ex. But I must stop going. The food poisoning from a ham I bought was my last desperate attempt at...

At Publix the little tub of Betty Crocker frosting is about $1.80, but it was $2.11 at Hitchcock's and they ballyhooed this as a bargain price. A gallon of the Arizona Tea green tea is 3.15 at Publix and 3.99 at Hitchcock's. People will say go to Hitchcock's to save money, but that definitely is not true.
The fried chicken lunch was $6.99, with a roll and two large sides, also a couple of small scones, plenty of food, about the same price as Publix. But their chicken is much better than the Publix chicken, which I cannot abide. It is also better than the Winn-Dixie fried chicken.
I caught some good deals on things like fresh strawberries and blueberries. The best thing about hitchcocks is they have their own brand of jams and jellies and preserves, which are not cheap but are really really good. I highly recommend the strawberry butter, which is just out of this world.
Three stars because of the...
Read moreTold one thing by a manager then told something different 2 weeks later. If something is on sale for 2 for the item they will not have a price for 1 individual item. When I asked I was told you didn't have to buy the 2 for the item you can get one and half the price it shows for the 2 for item. Now I am told you have to buy the sale or pay extra for the individual one. Wouldn't be so bad if they had the price for the item separate from the sales but they don't. Just a waste of time and energy trying to figure it out. I will go somewhere from now on for better quality items for the same price like windixie or Publix. Use to swear by this store now I am just so...
