Although this trail is pretty small, in comparison to the massive hiking spots I usually go to, it is quite gorgeous! A couple bonus features - there are restrooms here, and even better – you can bring your pups! That’s right! This is a dog friendly, hiking trail. No bicycles allowed. It’s not very long, at a medium to slow pace, you could do the whole thing in probably 30 minutes. There are a couple of nice viewing decks where you might have the opportunity to see a manatee or alligator. I have seen plenty gopher tortoises here, and a few snakes. I strongly suggest spraying yourself with insect repellent to not only avoid ravenous, biting flies and mosquitoes, but ticks as well.

I went today for the first time. There is really no parking spots, so I just pulled my car over (no other cars around! I was hoping I parked in the right spot). There are different trails you can take, I guess if you aren’t following the map, you could be going in circles. Found the boardwalk and 2 different lookout points looking over the water. I followed the map and took the long way around. There were many tiny lizards and I came across a gopher turtle. There are picnic tables scattered around so you could pack a lunch and relax. I’ll be back, it was nice.

**WARNING** One of the most poisonous berries in the world (Rosary Pea), has completely taken over the trail and it's surrounding areas. The poison from this plant is so potent a single seed can easily kill an adult. Do not take your dogs or small children here.

Perfect little place to walk your pooch when you want some distance from civilization, even though civilization is not far away. A couple of public bathrooms nearby should the need arise. Even a small shelter should you decide to have a picnic. Unfortunately like many places we do have the occasional jerks that insist on putting graffiti on the boardwalk near the picnic bench and the fences. But other than that, a nice place to take a little walk and relax

Quick update, the graffiti has been removed and several benches have been placed throughout the trails. Early spring is a good time to catch manatees passing the...
