Excellent place to come and explore nature. Large variety of Florida native plants (over 100 species) and animals (33 species of birds, 18 species of reptiles). Easy to spot keystone species such as the Gopher tortoise, its den, and its favorite food source (see picture). Also saw woodpeckers, ospreys, Florida scrub jays, cardinals, terns, cat birds, skinks, and a black racer, among others. Several well maintained hiking trails bordering the Indian River showcasing dune, coastal strand, and oak hammock. Canoe water access, shady benches, good sunset watching spots.
