We went to Mitchell Park on a Saturday and spent some wonderful time there. Magical Bridge Playground is truly one of the standout play areas in the area! Parents can relax in the shaded section equipped with benches and tables while their children explore the diverse range of attractions, including roller slides, steep slides, regular slides, and various spinning contraptions and swings. The park also offers amenities like artificial grass and cardboard pieces for sliding. Adjacent to the playground is a library, providing convenient access to bathrooms and a quiet spot for reading or decompressing. Ample parking makes it easy to access, and the park's spacious layout includes volleyball courts, a dedicated children's area, and plenty of open grassy spaces for picnics. During our visit, we encountered a vibrant mix of park-goers, from moms pushing strollers to high schoolers enjoying volleyball, and even dog walkers. Observing the diverse tapestry of life in the park was quite fascinating, highlighting the beauty of nature and community. Given the excellent weather and the park's natural charm, we're already planning our next visit. It's a wonderful place to celebrate the outdoors and everything nature...
Read moreLoved it. One of the best parks in the Peninsula. Absolutely huge. It helps that there’s a school next-door that has huge fields connected to it. Like someone else mentioned it’s like five or six different parks added into one. Everything spaced out real nicely And even though there’s little crowded enclaves it just still feels open. Lots of shady spaces lots of open spaces lots of spaces to gather and it was really a cool vibe all together. I even liked what seem to be a cool rough looking dude playing saxophone in the middle of the park. There were nerds playing with foam weapons like they were in the middle ages, hippies doing rope dancing and ribbon dancing on this huge contraption, Tech geeks complaining about Oakland, rich teenagers having picnics, and tons of fun little areas for kids. Especially the splash park. Just wish they would come out and fix the button because it’s a bit sticky and requires some pretty hard hitting to start the sprayer. All in a totally awesome park. Killer vibe. Almost European. Hundreds and hundreds of people doing all kinds of different cool things and never felt...
Read moreMitchell Park in Palo Alto left much to be desired during my recent visit. First and foremost, the park's cleanliness was subpar; litter was scattered throughout the grassy areas and playgrounds, giving an overall neglected appearance. The restrooms were in poor condition, with broken fixtures and inadequate sanitation. Furthermore, the park's amenities, such as the picnic tables and benches, were in disrepair and uncomfortable to use. The playground equipment, while initially impressive, showed signs of wear and tear, with several pieces appearing unsafe for children. Parking was another significant issue; the limited spaces were not enough to accommodate the number of visitors, leading to a stressful and inconvenient start to the visit. Additionally, the park seemed to lack adequate security, as there were several instances of suspicious activity that made me feel uneasy. Overall, Mitchell Park fell short of expectations and did not provide the relaxing and enjoyable experience one would hope for in a community park. I would not recommend it to others and will not be returning...
