The off-leash dog area is broken up into two sections. One is grass and mowed where your dog can run and play. The other is a natural environment where your dog can run through tall grass and swim in a couple of large lakes. Both areas are fully fenced and nice. My huskie loved the natural environment enclosure, but I could see smaller dogs not enjoying that section as much. There are warnings at the entrance of the natural environment enclosure about potential harmful algea in the lakes, but the water seemed free of algea when we were there (mid August) and we felt confident letting our dogs play.

on saturday, sept 14th, Selena was at Walnut Creek dog park with her doggy sibling and 2 doggy friends. Her friends Momma noticed blue green algae in the lake that is meant for dogs and immediately left. By 7:30 Sunday night Selena was dead. Today (Tuesday) A city worker tested the water (for the first time in 2 YEARS) and immediately padlocked the gates due to how bad the water is. We will have a necropsy done to prove this was the cause for Selena. It's absolutely terrifying that a DOG PARK has become so deadly to our sweet fur babies.

This is a great place to take your pups! I’ve taken mine here. Though, it is big with a lot of foliage, so you might want to keep an eye on your dogs. However, the fence is in great condition, and even my 9 pound rat can’t get through the darn thing. He loves bouncing around in the tall grass and going on the back trails there. Although my dog hates the water, I have seen other dogs swim in the pond there. Across from the pond is a camping ground that is NOT fenced in, so make sure your dog doesn’t go all the way across and escape, lol. And beware of ticks here, since there is a lot of foliage. If you’re interested in taking your dog someone great, this is it. Lots of things to smell, people have always picked up after their dogs, and there are benches where you can watch your dogs play while you chat with other...

This was the first time I was at the park. I have 2 small dogs. I mean small under 7 pounds. As I walked in there is a huge drain that goes under the street. The drain is blocked by a cover that is so huge my two dogs could have gone in that drain and I would have no access to them. Luckly they were not interested in it this time. I would really appreciate it if some could make a tighter grate so the small dogs could not get through if they chose to. Also, it would be nice to have a couple more benches maybe in the shade. With todays social distancing the two benches were full so nowhere to sit while my dogs ran. I am not sure where else I could post this where someone will see...

We are big dog park people! And, this place has so much potential. However, I would avoid it at all costs if your dog has any chance of getting in the water. It is stagnant, nasty water. The area is infested with ticks and disease. There is absolutely no way to easily keep your dog away from the water and if you're not in the mood for a swim day you should just avoid this park at all costs. We moved here from Colorado and were very excited about this dog park at first. However, it does not get much maintenance attention and the mud is overwhelming. Sorry friends🙁. Hopefully someday someone in Omaha will see the joy that nice dog parks can provide in a community, however, until...
