When going to visit my Dad in Georgetown Kentucky with my daughter, I knew I wanted to visit some distilleries as I am a fan of a great bourbon old fashioned! I was surprised to find there is only one distillery in Bourbon County! After finding out about Hartfield and Company online and reading up on their website I decided to stay in Paris near The Distillery. It was the highlight of our trip! We visited a couple of big name places, but my daughter Faye and I instantly felt like family here, and I also liked the drinks the best too! We arrived Thursday afternoon, and Lindsey (Happy Birthday Lindsey!) did the distillary tour and tasting with us. I was very impressed by her knowledge, the spirits I tasted were all delicious and she makes a terrific old fashioned! We also got to meet the owner Jeremy and the two distillary cats in the process and nerded out about Star wars for a minute too. The bar and tasting area is very welcoming with Zac the yak watching over the bar, a sitting area, pool table, and dart boards. It has more like a friendly neighborhood bar vibe not a big distillery vibe where they're just trying to get you to buy a bunch of stuff from their gift shop. We were joined by Kate who took over bartender duties when Lindsey left for the evening. Kate was also terrific and very friendly too! I happily left with 2 different versions of their pre-prohibition style bourbon, which I liked the best, and a bottle of rum that has been aged in used bourbon barrels which I'm very eager to try! I raved about the distillery to my brother-in-law who is a big bourbon fan, and he asked me to go back and buy him some bourbon to bring home. Which was 100% cool with me because I planned on coming back the next day anyway! After breakfast the next day we stopped in and visited with Jeremy and Kate the next morning while walking around downtown Paris, but promised to return again later. We visited her Grandpa and hit a couple of the big distilleries about an hour away. They are very beautiful and impressive, but both my daughter and I agreed that we thoroughly enjoyed Hartfield & Company the best! We returned Friday evening, met Zack (not the yak), and bought three more bottles to take home, and my daughter will also be rocking every color of Hartfield and Company t-shirt! It really makes my happy to support a small business that really cares about history, tradition, and great bourbon!! We met the majority of the employees! 🤣 It's assured that whenever we visit Kentucky again, we'll make at least one visit to Hartfield & Company to visit and support our new friends. If I run out before then, I can always have them ship me some! I still need to try the Frankenwhisky too! 1000% reccommended! -Rick

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Hartfield & Co. Distillery – A Soulful Journey into Bourbon’s True Roots Tucked away in the charming town of Paris, Kentucky, Hartfield & Co. Distillery isn’t just a stop on the bourbon trail—it’s a heartfelt return to the spirit’s original soul. As the first licensed distillery in Bourbon County since Prohibition, this place doesn’t just make bourbon—it revives its legacy. From the moment you walk through the doors, there’s an authenticity you can feel. This is a family-run craft distillery with a deep respect for tradition, crafting pre-Prohibition-style bourbon using time-honored techniques and a whole lot of passion. šŸ‚ What makes it unforgettable? Their small batch bourbon captures the warm, grain-forward flavors of a bygone era. Aged in both 5 and 30-gallon barrels, the whiskey develops rich character without drowning out the soft notes of malted barley. The single distillation process at barrel-entry proof preserves every layer of complexity. Each sip is smooth, soulful, and seriously memorable. 🄃 The tour? One-of-a-kind. You don’t just learn about bourbon—you connect with it. From the copper stills to the hands-on stories of how each spirit is made, it’s intimate, educational, and ends with an incredible tasting. And don’t skip the cocktail bar—those pre-Prohibition cocktails are worth the trip alone! 🌟 Favorites from the lineup: Old Bourbon County Straight Bourbon: Smooth, wheated, with cozy hints of caramel and orange cream. The Exceptional Barrel: Bold and unforgettable—like discovering a secret stash of something truly rare. And of course, their classic Pre-Prohibition Style Bourbon—a taste of the past with relevance for today’s palate. ✨ Final thoughts Visiting Hartfield & Co. felt like stepping into a living piece of bourbon history. It’s a place where stories are told through flavor, and where every bottle carries a sense of pride, craft, and heritage. I left with a deeper appreciation for bourbon—and a bottle I’ll be saving for a special moment. Highly recommend for bourbon lovers, history buffs, or anyone seeking something truly genuine.

We were just passing through town and thought we'd stop. Didn't know what to expect. From the outside, we couldn't tell if they were open. Upon entering a bell on the door announced our arrival, but still no one appeared. It gave us time to browse and take a few pictures. When my husband decided that he was ready to make a purchase, he carried it to the counter. There he found a message to call a specific phone number for service. The lady who arrived was very bubbly and friendly. She shared a lot of information with us about the history of the company and the bourbon in a short period of time. She also encouraged us to return and visit some of the other places around town. Apparently, there is a boutique hotel opening spring of 2026. We promised that we would return, do the distillery tour, tour the Hill'n'Dale Farm, and experience the sights, sounds and tastes of Paris, KY and Bourbon County, Kentucky. We're looking forward to a return trip and spending more time in this quaint little community. I'm not sure if reservations for tours are necessary, but I think they would prefer to know how many people are coming and when.
