This Georgian mansion, built around 1761 was originally the home of John Macpherson, a notable privateer. The estate was briefly owned by Benedict Arnold. Due to financial troubles, he had to sell it before he and his wife ever moved in. The mansion is now owned by the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The building and grounds are a National HIstoric Landmark and on the Philadlephia Historic Register. No indoor tours are offered these days, but visitors are welcome to roam the grounds.
