I don't really ever write google reviews, and have gone back and forth with deciding to write one. I went into this hair studio a few weeks back, and had an appointment with Mo. Everyone was incredibly kind, and Mo especially gave me a lot of attention and care during our initial conversation about what I wanted for my cut. I have curly hair, and mentioned the importance my hair has to me, I was a little hesitant to get my hair cut here, as there seemed to be no curly hair (non-white) stylists, but I thought I'd give it a shot. The cut itself ended up being okay, it's certainly uneven in places and the stylist seemed mostly attentive to the process. The problem arose when the stylist dried my hair. They used one of those things that go over your head and dry them. I never use heat on my hair, and (!!) I wasn't asked if heat would be okay for me (!!). They left the drying machine on my hair for longer than i would have liked, as it got painfully hot on my scalp, but I powered thru, thinking this was a one time thing and the stylist knew what they were doing. Upon leaving my scalp felt tender and it was a little concerning, but i thought it might go away soon. I had someone look at my scalp that weekend as they pain persisted, and we noticed that it had been slightly burned by the heat exposure. It's been two weeks since my cut and my scalp is still recovering. I have never experienced soreness on my scalp like this before. Mo seemed like a good stylist, and I don't think they were necessarily the problem, but i thought it was important for me to write this review in hopes that the stylists will be more careful with using heat on future clients. After this experience I wouldn't recommend this place to a friend with not straight hair, or at least warn them of the my experience with the drying machine. If Transfiguration wants to reach out I would be open to talking openly about...
Read moreI have been a client of Angel’s for 9 years at the time of this review. It is with great joy that I can share how beautiful her own salon, Transfiguration is. Everyone who works there is just as wonderful so if you decide to try going you can make an appointment with confidence.
The atmosphere is beautiful. There are plants and a pleasant non-harsh smell. I have never gotten a migraine after my trips here. It smells beautiful and calming. Complimentary drinks are always offered as well as snacks. If you prefer coffee it is conveniently located next to Gold Standard. By not brewing it in house it doesn’t smell like a diner. So much thought has gone into the atmosphere (don’t worry you can bring it in!).
The hair washing bowls are adjustable and made for people who are sensitive. I used to get terrible bruises that lasted for days and vertigo. I haven’t had this happen once. Angel is very gentle.
During Covid closure Angel has always texted me directly. I know that I’m cared about more than just a number. For 9 years we have shared stories and when I first came in it was after a fire and premature birth. I had severe PTSD. Angel worked gently with me then, too.
I’m proud to call Transfiguration my salon and know I will always get the best treatment here. If I ever have questions about my hair Angel is just a note or call away. I know the other hair artists are too.
Please consider this beautiful place.
I have also taken my special needs child here and received gentle TLC respectful cuts.
No matter your walk of life they are respectful. Above all my cuts, many colors, and regrow this, changes and styles have been listened to and achieved. Here’s to 10 and...
Read moreI have seen such a beautiful transformation with my hair since I started seeing Angel at Transfiguration. The care and intention that they put into your cut is so apparent and radically different from any other salon I’ve been to. I never realized how important it is to have time before a cut to decompress and vent about everything that has bothered you about your current hair situation, plus the equal time to dream about what you would love your future hair to look like! The fact that they build time into your session to really go all in on what your dream cut looks like (plus factoring in the reality of your hair) is invaluable once you’ve experienced it. If that wasn’t enough, the entire hair crafting experience is fun and informational; Angel does an amazing job of explaining every step of the process, from how they plan on accomplishing the look you’re going after to why they choose the styling and cleansing products they do. The cherry on top is that you get step-by-step instructions on how to recreate the look you leave the salon with! I am not at all gifted when it comes to hair styling, but I have felt empowered to create the hair of my dreams every time I leave Angel’s chair. It has also been so comforting in these crazy Covid times to know that everyone at Transfiguration takes safety and cleanliness so seriously; I have never felt anything but calm and secure spending time in their space. I truly can’t speak highly enough of Angel and the team and beautiful space they’ve brought together in...
